I'm waiting for someone to come in and post "I remember when this thread was about going to the footy".

Sometimes it's best to remember how truly awful somethings were, to see how far we've come - anyone remember watching The Black and White Minstrals Show on the ABC in the mid-70s? Vague memories it was part of Channel 2's Saturday 'variety' evening, and ran up against Channel 7's song and dance numbers from Ernie Sigley between the trots at Mooney Valley. o_O

On the plus side, growing up we had weekly doses of The Two Ronnies, Dad's Army, Dr. Who, Kenny Everitt Video Show, To the Manor Born, Butterflies, Porridge, and on and on and on...
You either lived in the country (and had to choose between ABC and BTV6 ?) or your TV was stuck on ABC?

There isn't much happening in AFL, at least not to do with Geelong. We have to entertain ourselves somehow, and maintain "posting fitness"

not even sports?

Watch the Cats game on the internet - all others sports these days bore me shitless. Too many books to read, movies to watch, women to laugh with, concerts to attend and dogs to walk to bother with vastly overpaid, class-less boof-heads thinking they are god's gift cause they can chase a ball or run fast.

all others sports these days bore me shitless.

Hear hear! Cricket, tennis, motorsport... all about as brilliant as watching paint dry while someone is attempting to give you a vasectomy while blindfolded.

And after winning several hands seeing her remove her clothes , bit by bit , he gets the naughty nurse outfit off her and she's down to the B & N 's , he deals the cards again and deals himself 4 Aces , he smerks , he looks at her ....... and promptly dies of a heart attack.

Who recalls Grant Tanner? He was actually a Geelong Footballer- sorry to deviate the thread here - but he was named The Rifleman. Anyone recall that , and other westerns?

And perhaps one of the greatest movies of all time- SHANE.

Speaking of great nicknames, one of my all time favourite cats, Mark Bos, was MANDINGO

I remember reading somewhere that the pub brawl scene in Shane wasn't actually acting - they were hitting each other for real. Quite a few injuries came out of it as a result. Made for compulsive viewing though!

Anyone remember hurrying home from school and watching episodes of either Married...With Children or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

No way known would they get away with half the stuff they did on Married...With Children nowadays!

Would have thought our resident Clint Eastwood fan would mention Rawhide.

[Edit] Ahhh, F2G was too quick on the trigger :thumbsu:

So who was the 'hottest' female character in 60's, 70's & 80's TV?

No99, Marcia Brady, Jeanie, Olive (from On the Buses), Abigail's character in 96, Penny in Lost in Space??

If we're not including marionettes (woohoo Lady Penelope), put me down for Jaclyn Smith from Charlie's Angels.

I can take it full circle.

"I remember when November was all about cricket and not talking shit in the 'off season' on a footy forum"

Pretty sure you don't mean Penny from Lost in Space. Judy was the hot one. Penny was also in the Sound Of Music, Angela Cartwright. Speaking of hot, and this will test memories and even admissions of having watched the film , but the oldest girl, the one who was 16 going on 17- she was really special.
From that list, I can't go past Jeanie and 99 as a toss-up. Both Barbara's were highly appealing.

Well I have the emission of doing the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg. Part of which was watching the movie first! Although it was a fairly full bus load coming along with me.

I share your sorrow. Happily though, no movie - just sing-along with Julie. Hit 7 of the monastery beer halls pretty hard following that day out
