I remember watching Ken Rosewall and Rod Laver( great rivalry).

Damn you old….:)

I barely remember Rosewall doing those lemon cordial drink ads in the early late 70's early 80's…..

And Rod LAver is just an arena right?

Does anyone know how many supercoach points this game would earn today? One for the statisticians out there... I think it would almost be an all time high.

I also remember when performances weren't judged on fantasy points.

Will never, ever forget it.
I lived on Ascot Vale road. (moonee ponds).
Had a mate up the night before from Geelong.

We'd hit the tunnel til 6. Completely smashed.
Got up. Felt like a busted arse, would have looked like one. Heard the first quarter as we struggled.
"I think he's on"
Goal 2. "shit, I reckon he's on"
Goal 3. "that's it. He's on. We're going"

Got there just before 1/2 time.
That game was ridiculous. It was head shaking at it's best.

Yabbbbletttttttt!!!!

I remember going to a Geelong-Carlton game at the MCG in the early 90's when there used to have reserves games as curtain raisers. Anyway, this day the curtain raiser was moved to the Punt Road Oval as it had been raining all week and they wanted to save the surface, so some Carlton fans decided to entertain themselves by starting an "Ablett is a ******" chant, and got kicked out of the ground before the game started! :D

I remember in 1998 we were so injury riddled by the end of the season that the last few rounds the reserves coach had to ring around to country leagues asking for players to fill in on Saturday, and the first time most of the team met was in the change rooms before the game.

i remember the things geelong fans used to look forward to seeing early 2000's late 90's. it was a spectacular list of events to go and watch indeed

ronnie burns 3-4 goal hauls lighting up skilled stadium

david mensch taking marks

clint bizzel kicking 70m points from the centre square

the buzz everytime ben graham got the ball 60m out and then decided to do a short pass

david clarke bursting out of clearances!

I remember laying in bed in West Geelong on a Thursday night the rain bouncing of the old tin roof waiting for the teams to be announced on 3GL. Backs, Scott West Watts

Using a CRYSTAL SET??
I did-- one of the pleasures of life as a kid in the early 60's. Very few here would appreciate the amazing revelation of radio using this small device.

seriously? That gives you some serious cred!
He was very old and I was very young, and I probably didn't fully appreciate it at the time. He was a genuinely lovely man and a great family friend.
Around the same age I also got to hang out in the rooms after training, met a young Steven King and an old Garry Hocking.

I remember the day John Barnes was walking past my school at 3:30PM when we were waiting at the gate to be picked up. A great game of kick to kick was started.

I remember when John Barnes had his jaw broken against Richmond, then going into school on Monday and writing about it in my Grade 1 diary, then getting in big trouble for using the f-word when describing Richmond players and fans...

that was an absolutely appalling act and I think it was Paul Bulluss who got him behind the play. Richmond came out guns blazing and went the man for most of the game, we lost Barnes and Handley early in while Ablett was off and on the field throughout because he was trying to square the ledger with Bulluss who was eventually put on the bench for his own safety.

Wow! That was some kick to kick!!! :D

I remember going on a school excursion to Tullamarine Airport when it opened.

I remember riding my bike around the terminal during construction and getting chased out by construction workers ( sans fluoro vests in those days).
Lived in Niddrie , nothing much to do , it was either that or crawl through the tunnels in the Matthews Avenue bridge - also under construction :D
