Autopsy "I remember when"

As a kid, I remember the weird feeling seeing 'our boys' line-up in State games against 'our boys.' Gary Malarkey in a WA jumper, when he would kick out from full-back, just didn't look right without the Hoops.
The only full back to hold Peter Hudson goalless, wasn't he?, and that was in an interstate match.

Using a CRYSTAL SET??
I did-- one of the pleasures of life as a kid in the early 60's. Very few here would appreciate the amazing revelation of radio using this small device.
My brother had a crystal set in the 60's. I remember pulling it apart to check out the "crystal". I had trouble putting it back together.

Back then 3GL had Leo O'Halloran calling the football

I remember when players were drafted mainly for football skills.
I still think the majority of a draftees are picked for football skills, I can think of three outside the box picks (Blicavs, Luxford and Bathie) all three of whom cost us relatively little, one has failed, one has succeeded and the other has been training with us for a week.

It's started too swing back a little too drafting footballers.... a few years back it was almost an obsession to draft athletes who had a bit of ability

Lucky we for the most part in that time drafted footballers .. Jimmy, SJ etc

Married a girl I was more than keen on.
At least it lasted and they're still together in WA.

Yeah Geelong only did it for a very brief time (David Clarke), before long the pendulum swung back hard and thankfully we only recruited footballers - Bartel, Johnson, Ling especially.

Yeah, I remember when we recruited a fat, undersized, ginger forward from the Falcons and he turned out to be the best tagger of the modern era, premiership captain and now one of the most beloved and respected figures in the game.

I was mates with a guy in the early 90's who was a bloody good footballer.
It's so long ago that I don't know who he was playing for, but it was the level below reserves. Was the u/19's still going in 92 ish?

Anyway, he was desperate in trying to get into the Geelong team. And as fast as he was (and he was quick) they told him that they were only interested in athletes.

I remember footy season, when the funny-farm gates are closed.

... "Sigh!"

I remember when Summer meant hot weather, babes walking down the street in bikins with towels wrapped around the waist, kids playing cricket in the street, the smell of UV wafting through fly-doors, Eskimo Pies for lunch and more HOT WEATHER. Remember HOT WEATHER? In Summer? Remember Summer?

FFS, I want my Summer, now!!!
