After reading todays paper and Craigy said no delists till after the trades

We have lost Begley,Watts,M.Stevens and Ladhams

Hopefully pick up someone for Watts so that leaves us with 3 draft picks

So i think our list is what we will have again next year unless something pops up out of the blue.

I think we should at least make one deal in the trade week. A strong rumour is that we are in the front running for Motlop. AFC is of the opinion that anything less that a top 10 draft pick or equivelant is unaccpetable for Fergus.

We either come away winners like we did this time last year or we walk away as the biggest losers in the trade week. All of that will depend on what happens with fergus.

Shrug, I think it just means he'll try to trade a few players rather than flat out delist them. You never know what might happen, no point in delisting anyone until you've seen what you can trade for (however little).

Correct.

This is nothing different to what we have done in the past. We have always announced our delistings after the trade period for a simple reason that, some club might be interested in some players we are delisting.

Has Watts said where he wants to go and would a straight swap Watts for Motlop be a faif deal?

It would appear that we want a draft pick for Fergus. I think Motlop would a different deal to Watts unless something comes up where its a mutiple team trade.

I wouldn't mind Motlop at our club, but not in a straight sway with Watts. Watts' upside and potential is far greater than Motlop's, whose career has stalled over the last year due to injury. Motlop is 24 next year and question marks still linger about his inconsistency and fitness.

Watts, on the other hand, is definitely worth a top ten draft pick (the Crows shouldn't settle for anything less) and is a player ready to go for round one next year.

I know that many have a higher opinion of Motlop than I do.

Fanta was basically saying the club were expecting a top-10 draft pick for Watts. Hopefully there will be plenty of interest by Melbourne clubs, so he doesn't walk via the PSD.

I agree with you.

I suspect that clubs see Motlop as a risk. A risk that can pay off big or the risk that leaves you with the egg on your face. There is no doubt that based on talent and potential alone, Motlop would be worth a first round draft pick but there is more to Motlop than potential. He has shown over his AFL career that is injury prone but apart from that he is also someone that could quit on you at the drop of the hat. I struggle to see any club giving up their 1st round draft pick for Motlop. I don't think there will be many clubs that would take that big a risk.

There will be a bit more action after the trading period ... Krueger, Schuback, Smith. I think the club will still want at least five picks.

Not our choice - we can expect anything we like BUT Watts has the upper hand (and he knows it) - expect very little on this one - we really need a player if possible - preferably one 2-3 years into his development cycle
