I thought Ellis was fantastic for a first-game-back performance.

I am pretty gutted from today. I though Robbie Campbell's first half was the worst half of football I have ever seen him play. Have commented on another post about Franklin's game and Birchall's jib on the far wing was one he won't want to see again.

However, I thought for a guy in his first game back, Ellis was fantastic. Yep, he butchered it a couple of times, but then so did everyone, most notably our captain.

Ellis found space on his own, often left his man to cut off passes, put his body on the line and generally used it well. For mine, his game was the equal of his GF game.

It's great to have him back and just can't wait to see him develop into the classy player we all know he will become.

Well done X.

29 disposals - not bad for a first up effort back from what looked like a bad foot injury.:thumbsu:

Got better as the game went on but lack of body touch playing as a defender cost us in the first half. He wasn't alone in this boat though, it was pretty full by half time.

I saw Birch and White spend time on knights also so the match ups wouldve rotated through out the game. A good return for X he will only improve. I just hope the kid can just start getting games, and a preseason under his belt so he can live up to his potential.

Great first game back by Ellis. We will be better as a unit with him back. Obviously turned over that diving handpass...and I thought he was hung out to dry by AC having to play at FB in his first game back at one stage...but he'll be better for the run.

We need to address the lack of big body in the back half, and I don't think Campbell is the answer. He just doesn't know how to play defence essentially. Not his fault, he's a ruckman. If we can put him back in the middle to double team with Taylor, and X can potentially run off a back flank, along with the fire power in the middle of Lewis, Sewell and Mitchell, then we'll be a far better show than last time.

But our lack of run from the back is worrying. I'm almost inclined to just say Dowler, Morton, Whitecross, Murphy, Renouf, and the usuals of Birchell, Goo and Browny...get on the beers, go to a movie together, you guys are the defensive unit for the rest of the year. Work together, form some systems, and make it work. Every other side we play can manufacture the numbers needed in defence to nullify Buddy/Roughie, so we should too.

This is Ellis' true break out year, make no mistake.

The quicker Hodge gets back and we can move Ellis into the midfield the better.

Get him in your dreamteam and supercoach sides because he's about to explode. Got 119 SC points in a game which started off with quite a few clangers.

The club did the right thing in bringing him back through Box Hill - although it seemed to take him a quarter or so to get back up to AFL pace. I think we all underestimate the help Ellis provides in packs to Mitchell and Sewell. I'm not sure if Mitch is still playing 100% game time every week but he definitely won't have to if Ellis can move in there rather than plugging holes down back.

I was impressed as usual by X - He really does seems to have that "Matrix" extra time as noted on the main board. Had disposal efficiency of 90% even including that shocking handball that resulted in a goal. Agree that he is hitting his straps and will be amongst the first 10 picked by years end.

Go back and have a look at the GF game. I would suggest he butchered it more in that game Noosa.

I have a feeling Ellis was suppose to be on Knights when he was given 100 metres to have a play in
I have a feeling that knights goals were all a a result of turnovers when our half backs were running the other way. Thus not Ellis fault.
I also have a feeling that positive thoughts are not in the make up of Alabama Hot Pocket.
