Back in 1992 when I was at Alexandra Hills, we got stuck into a stink with Everton Districts at home one day. Mid-way thru the third quarter and it was on !!! Every player both sides initially, then the main body of the fight knocked over a section of fence into the old licenced area where a free-for-all with players, spectators, seconds, you name it all got involved.
This went on for probably 5 or so minutes (which is a bloody long time for a blue) until the umpires simply walked. Our club president actually got on the p.a. and announced the police would be called if it didn't break up immediately.
Later on, we found up to about a dozen cars in the carpark had half bricks, bins, a signpost, branches and other ***** smashed thru their windscreens. Mine wasn't one, but two of my best mates' were.
I won't do the "do-gooder" thing and say it wasn't our fault. The first punches were certainly thrown by Everton, but the initial escalation from a fight to all-in-brawl was definitely our fault I would think. There was plenty of bad blood between the two clubs until Everton folded a few years later.
At the time, it was 'all good', but in hindsight a pretty ordinary scene. Women and kids were there that day .... not good putting them in danger !!! I could go into plenty of gruesome details about injuries and incidents during the stoush, but you guys get the general picture.
