2 things I was wrong about both involve the name McDermott. Firstly I thought it was a joke that we had a chance to have Alan Donald as bowling coach and we hired Craig instead. Turned out it was a great decision and our bowling stocks have never looked healthier.

The other blunder I made was writing off Alister way too early. 2 years ago I thought he was being gifted games off his name alone and at best would be a solid first class player. 2nd half of this season has blown that theory out of the water. Huge upside and will play for Australia sooner or later.

Ive admitted my mistakes. What are some of yours?

Junior made his state debut in limited overs in 2008-09. Back then in first grade he was smashing batting lineups as a 17 year old. He was lethal and dangerous.

I read the grade cricket scores each week and try to get around and watch for a few hours. I was actually wondering when the Queensland selectors would take notice of him.

I was wrong about Hilfy. I thought he would've been about 20th in line for a spot in the team, but he's come back strongly and silenced most doubters.

I reckon quite a few posters will need to fess up to being wrong about Siddle too.

I've thought about this in the past a bit, and I've been left wondering, who? The people who relentlessly defended Siddle saying there was nothing wrong with his game, he's unlucky, don't drop him etc, or the people who relentlessly attacked him, saying he bowls too short, you can't be as unlucky as you claim unless he's doing something wrong, drop him so he can fix it. Cause I mean....

Really, everyone won.

I'll put my hand up and say I wrote off Ponting :o I was also very unhappy with the Hilfenhaus selection against India. Khawaja might come to prove that I've grossly overestimated his talent. I'm a huge advocate of his, but it's too early to call either way at this stage.

I will say though that I've always backed Siddle, which mainly involved calling for him to stay in the team ahead of Johnson back in 10/11.

Siddle, Hilfenhaus, Ponting, Hussey. I'm sure there's more...lol!

I've created some absolute guns from no-where this season just by hitting the keyboard and posting...lol!

Young McDermott has definetly put his name in front of selectors with his season and shield final form. Siddle got picked in the test team based on his lion-hearted performance in a losing shield final against NSW. Although the big difference was the NSW team was almost the australian top order.

He has one big problem to overcome, the form of the older crew in Siddle and Hilfy and the fact he is behind Cummins and Patto. Definite talent and pretty much next in line on form.

lol haven't we all?

So nobody was wrong about Michael Clarke??

I've already owned up to that one :P

on the other hand, claiming pattinson, siddle, hughes, warner and smith (and hopefully haddin and wasde as other good calls :P)

ones clearly wrong at this stage are o'keefe and usman who I thought would be dominant this summer :(

This summer I was wrong about Dan Christian not having a place in the team with Shane Watson in there.

Also wrong about Michael Clarke - didnt think he had the metal for the second most important job in the country. Has proved me wrong big time both standing up with the bat and leading the team in the field. Still - he ****s me in his interviews.

Wrong about McKay not being effective either.

Did however have my views that the Indian cricket team are a weak hearted, soft and over rated rabble proven...

Cummins has missed an entire summer of cricket, I reckon he will have dropped back in the pecking order a bit, if for no other reason than to get some games into him.

Biggest load of jazz regarding McDermott as bowling coach. Having blokes ready to go at the same time, Donald would have done exactly the same job but more than likely better.

If Junior plays test cricket and averages less than 30 with the ball, it will be beyond amazing.

Everyone is treating it like we're out of the woods, we're far from it.

It's bad enough having Clarke captain, let alone having Watson as his stand in.

Stay in school.

wrong about siddle.

happy to say I was right with Clarke and Ponting though.

Ponting. To a lesser extent, Hussey. I was supportive of him for much longer than others, but did jump off him for a good while before he turned his form around. On the other hand, he WAS really, REALLY shit for a fair while, so maybe I wasn't wrong, but his form turnaround was inevitable..... but then I was one of the last to turn on him, so even from that perspective I was wrong. :o

I was also wrong on Hilfy. He blew my mind.

I wasn't wrong on Siddle. While a critic, I always thought that with a brain (or good coaching), and thereby a fuller length, he'd be a weapon. I think we stuck with him through poor form when we shouldn't have, but I've always thought he had potential.
