Worth a mature rookie spot, for sure. Dominated both VFL and SANFL now.

Would be a handy back-up for Eddie Betts actually, because he's the only bloke we've got who can play that role really well.

very good player, only reason he hasnt been drafted is because of his size.

I wouldnt be unhappy if we gave him the mature rookie spot, in my opinion he is a much better player than ross young.

I have watched him all year and he is a good foorballer but
will be too slow at his height for Afl.

Jeremy Clayton plays in the same league and is a better footballer
and he could not crack it back into the Afl.

we definitely need another small forward to cover Betts if he goes down injured now that Skinny has retired.

If Callinan is good enough to come in as a mature age rookie, I say we grab him...

He played for Clarence and the Tassie Devils. A tough little nut, but he always missed out on AFL selection because of his size.

On a more personal level he does look a bit weird. I used to call him the 'missing link'. Yes, I know, I am a nasty piece of work! :p

So he could do the job as an in and under small forward working to get the crumbs out to the other forwards as well as chipping in with a couple of goals each week?

:D Little Ricky Ponting!! Used to go watch a few Clarence games back in the day. He was playing Under 16s for them at the time and was always hanging around the change rooms when the seniors were playing. He looked a dead ringer for a mini Ricky. Filled out a bit since, so not that noticeable.

Very good player for Tassie before this year. Has very good skills and knows where the goals are. Player that would have been a dead cert in the AFL back in the 80's early 90's.

He'd be a great crumber. For his size he is as hard as nails and either very brave or very stupid.

Seriously though, I can't understand this business in today's draft selections over size. If the same criteria existed years ago then we'd have never seen the likes of Baldock, Bartlett etc.

I thought Callinan was older than 24 though. He seems to have been around for ages.

I think one of the Adelaide clubs will take him in the regular draft anyway, there's been a lot of talk about that in Adelaide.
