According to Monday's paper he was moved nearly 'to tears' when speaking about accusations of recreational drug use being common in the AFL.

According the article he said players 'immediately become morally upstanding' once they enter a football club and one or two bad seeds shouldn't tarnish the great work footballers do.

I don't know what planet this freaking loon is living on, but he needs to get some informationa and get real.

Set foot in any of those popular clubs on a Saturday night, whatever city you're in, and you'll no doubt see footballers hitting the bottle, taking recreational drugs fairly often and being sleazy, immoral dudes like many other drunk guys out on a Saturday night.

Having seen the way some of those Crows and Power players use their status to get young girls in clubs in Adelaide, there is no doubt they're far from 'upstanding moral citizens'. Seeing Peter Burgyone with a 16 year old girl on his lap several years ago was far from moral.

Dicker is a rank fool if he thinks otherwise. The volume of stories about football players aren't 'lies' or 'scandalous', they're very often true. It wouldn't surprise me if the whole Milne and Montagna thing is true.

Dicker needs to wake up and see that many footballers love to abuse their power, and the faster he learns it the better, because he is making himself look like a fool.

Totally agreed.

It's just as rife among professional footballers as it is in the wider community - same goes for sexual preference - anyone who thinks there's only that 'one' mythical and as yet un-named gay player in the AFL is absolutely kidding themselves.

For once we agree!

I think it's actually quite irresponsible of people like Dicker to be making stupid statements like this, when the wider community well knows that footballers are far from paragons of morality.

Better to say nothing, or even better admit that footballers have their problems, than trying to claim the football club has moralised the footballer.

All that suggests is that the football clubs' view of 'morals' is about as skewed as P Burgoyne's.

Why this guy, even if he is so ignorant he knows nothing about what his employees get up to, can't draw the common thread between the rape cases in the West Coast...in Brisbane...in Adelaide...in Melbourne...is beyond me.

He's a ****er. The majority of AFL players get wasted one way or another, usually through alcohol, after their games.

Morally upstanding my arse!! He must be on drugs!!! ;)

Yeah this TOOL was being interveiwed before the Bulldogs Vs Hawthorn game on MMM Footy in Melbourne and was quite amazed to think upto 70% of AFL players are using recreational Drugs, but what made me laugh is he said that he knows all the players at Hawthorn inside out and there was noway any Hawthorn player was using recreational drugs:rolleyes: Get off the grass you moron and get real it would be rife in the AFL.

grabbing headlines? making an extended speech with tears in your eyes is pushing that concept a bit far...i doubt he'd go to that extent if he didn't believe it...
