Seems they knew a few weeks ago

He will be replaced by Ian McKeown who comes to the Crows from NHL club, the Philadelphia Flyers, where he has held the position of Vice President, Athlete Performance and Wellness. He has previously been Head of High Performance at the Port Adelaide Football Club.
“He has kept us abreast of the situation over recent months and by doing so has provided us with the opportunity to identify and appoint a first-class candidate to what is a crucial role,” Kelly said.

He worked under Burgess at Port, then he took over when Burgess left. Good get!
His academic interests seem to be a lot in power and explosiveness. Any of that come through in practice?

What were your injuries under him like

2018 about afl standard. 2019 terrible. 2020 afl standard. 2021 very good.

2021 we had our core play majority of games. 2019 was an injury disaster.

From memory he was all about smart muscle so we lacked bulk but were strong and effectively could run out games

I remember seeing him talk at the club and he was about smart muscle mass, being lean but good strength, as opposed to having excess bulk.

In 2021 Wines was the fittest hes ever been and won the Brownlow. Boak had his second wind through the midfield and almost won a brownlow under him. Amon was super fit and made the AA squad. Got the best out of DBJ. Jonas had great years under him. Dixon had his best two seasons under him where he was super fit.

I wonder if Boak has done any formal fitness education.

He took traning and spoke at my son's Footy club last year and seemed a good teacher and most of his talk was about post and pre game rehabilitation.

Not to any high academic level that im aware of.

Someone that Burgess trusts, has run his own AFL program with success and has diverse experiences from other major sporting leagues. Seems to be a strong appointment (pun intended).

Does seem to have been handled well by the club, apart from not announcing this before Juventis.

Seems a decent replacement
Im sure juventus would have loved a small Australian football club announcing their signing first.

Our club could have said Burgess leaving. Not mention where. An email to members thanking Burgess for his service and good luck in future role. Without naming the role specifically.

Then announce McKeown.

Just a small thing, but letting members know first, rather than media stumbling on it is a bit more professional.
