REALLY?!

So it was Perrie's twin that did a knee in round 4 last year, missed majority of the game, came back early and had a knee that would blow up after very game. Nah that was just some other random dude that looked like him

He was fit enough to be picked ahead of McGregor - as far as I'm concerned, if that's the case, there is no excuse.

You mean the McGregor that was coming back from a hamstring injury and the same McGregor that was carrying an achillies injury for pretty much the entire season?

Sweet!!!!!!

Just because we were forced to play him doesn't mean he wasn't unfit or underdone.

I also remember the day you lot claimed Stenglein wouldn't make your best 22 and wouldn't be worth a 1st round draft pick let along 1st and 2nd round draft pick... No idea why but I thought I'd bring this up ;)

I was more correct then you though. :)

Yes, that McGregor, any day of the week.

He wasn't unfit or underdone in our final game last year, and he was rubbish then as well.

As Stifler alluded to he's been injury plagued for the past 2 years. We haven't seen him at 100% since 2005 when he was a servicable packbusting hit-up CHF.

I take your point - I did forget about that, but the point stands, even when we were a middle of the road team he was still in the bottom end of servicable, if we're serious about rebuilding or advancing and contesting as a top 4 side, he isn't our man.

Over the years I've really tried to cut Sarge some slack, realising he was never going to be a superstar but a good honest contributor. And I am so sorry to say this but those two missed goals and dropped mark have done it for me.:(

A huge impact on the result of the game as well. :thumbsd:

Essendon scored at least 3 goals as a direct result of Perrie errors, including the 2 missed regulation goals.

Sarge tried hard, but had an absolute stinker today.

We have to throw the kids in there.

I'm sick of us playing Perrie and Welsh all the bloody time.

Port throw Krakouer, Cockshell etc in there and it gives them confidence...

Why the **** dont we do that?

Only 2 negatives I'll get excited about today becauase Perrie and Stevens have been a problem for a while. At least Perrie takes a defender.

I can't recall any game where Perrie has kicked more than 4 goals in a match against a quality side, not good enough for a KPP :thumbsd:

5 top goals against a quality North Melbourne side at Telstra Dome in 2002. Mark Stevens got 5 too, and with Roo snapped up all the Brownlow votes that cost Macca the medal. I reckon he's kicked six once or twice too.

The only position Sarge can play is a roaming CHF that runs deep leads as far as the centre square/wing, and every other forward gets the hell out of his way. He worked well with Mark Stevens & McGregor (who would normally play away from him deeper in the forward line) and Welsh when he's even deeper back at FF.

He got jerked around when Carey was recruited in 2002 because they ran the same patterns and stuffed each other up (similar to the way Biglands got jerked around trying to be a makeshift key position player - the guy can only play ruck, sorry but it's a fact and another story).

Now with the injury to Henschell, Craig's come up with the brilliant plan of having Bock at CHF (who's really just as inconsistent/inaccurate as Perrie), and playing Perrie as a pocket to get in the way with Welsh. The structure is flawed - forwards are leading to the same areas effectively drawing opposition defenders to the same spot, and there's no real speedy crumbing forward to take advantage when the ball hits the deck.

It's real peachy for you guys to flame Perrie & Welsh, but the truth of the matter is sniping these guys achieves bugger all. You could have Sellar and Tippett out there and it still wouldn't work - there's a lot to the forward line breakdown today be examined by the Crows coaching panel, and personnel is just part of it.

This is generally always the case.

People defend him because he 'tries hard'. Reality is at this level being a 'trier' doesn't cut it.

ON a more positive note, I thought Griffen and Knights played good games today. Griffen doesn't look out of place at all and Maric and Meesen will have a fight on their hands to get a spot in the 22.

Nice to see some positive comments re the younger lads.

Griffin was actually the superior ruckman out of he and Huddo today IMO, particularly at centre bounces.

As for Knights, he at least paid his way which is more than a lot of the team can say for their games.

Some pretty astute comments in that lot, although Perrie and Welsh do deserve their share of criticism. :thumbsu:

Face it Stiffy, you will do anything to defend the Sarge.

Last year he had about 4 games with North in the SANFL, and then had 4 games with Adelaide. That is 2 months of football, and what was his contribution in the Preliminary Final? 8 possessions, 0 shots on goal. :thumbsu:

Utterly hopeless, time for him to drop back the Roosters to play out his career. I doubt any clubs back home in Perth would want him.

Perrie is a turning point that didn't turn. His 2005 was extremely good - surpassed the best seasons we'd seen from the likes of Matthew Robran and Mark Stevens in the past.

25 games
333 disposals @ 13.32 per game
146 marks @ 5.84
39.31 goalkicking

Unfortunately he didn't have a chance to go on with it due to the PCL injury early last season - and now he's pretty much back to square one fitness, form and confidence-wise.

Was never going to be a goalkicking matchwinner in the Pavlich/Tredrea/Riewoldt/Brown mould, but as a workhorse further up the ground he could've been a very very good player as an avenue for other forwards.

Moot now, obviously.

For all the bluster over our KPPs, there is just about nothing I wouldn't give for another Peter Vardy in that forward line. Or Darren Jarman >_>

....X-Factor? *shot*

Needs to be dropped. Will never be a good player at AFL level. His best at AFL level is average. He's past it already... Putting him in the side = wrong direction. Give the kids a run.

I'm afraid I'll have to agree with the bulk of the posters on here. Perrie's mistakes today were absolutely shocking.

Just had a stinker of a day. We all have them, though I don't have 43 000 people groaning whenever I have one hehe.

On a serious note, I feel needs to spend a few weeks at North until he gets some confidence again, but then who do we put in his place?
