Doesn't look like such a good move now.

It is a shame in some ways, as I really liked him when I met him. Main reason it hurt when he left us was that he went to them!!!! Maybe Karma
Not really the Scum have sacked a bloke that knew nothing about what was going on.

The men who knew and instigated it are let off scott free.

I met him as well and had the opposite opinion. He was looking to climb the ladder. Looks like he found a snake and has moved down a few squares.

Hard to know if your employees keep information from you deliberately, eg the letter from Dr Reid
The bigger issue for him was the complete lack of process around the approval of medical procedures and products used on players. It isn't just that he didn't know but he had no plan in place to ensure (as much as is reasonably possible) that he did know what was happening. Also, it was 2012 when this happened not 1912. Any reason Dr Reid couldn't have sent an email? this as much as anything highlights that there was no reporting process in place for employees to raise concerns through. It was Robson's job to put those kinds of things in place. by the way it has been reported, it sounds like none of the things a well run company should have in place were in place. The primary role of a CEO is to manage risk and Robson clearly failed in this duty.

He possibly didn't know and deserves to take the consequences of that. However, other people DID know and must also take their consequences. Hird has to go.

Very true. Absolutely agree. But from a corporate governance point of view, that the Chief medical office didn't believe he had the authority to overrule fitness staff is majorly concerning. That he had concerns but didn't think it important enough to raise it directly to the CEO or at least follow up to ensure his 'letter' was received is gobsmackingly unbelievable. It speaks highly of their (corporate) culture if major risk issues are not reported. It is up to the CEO to set that culture and appropriate processes and policies in place.

Agreed, but Robson is in his position because of other people did wrong. Sure, you can say he should have had systems, etc., in place (which he should have) but that does not excuse the appalling behaviour of the head coach and the coaching and performance groups. They are as guilty as he is of putting the players at risk and must go.

Yep, agree with you. If a policeman is too busy eating donuts while the bank across the street gets robbed, the policeman gets fired and the robbers go to jail. I think we are seeing the former and still waiting for the later.

Well, I'm sympathetic to Robson's position.

1. He left us to go to Essendon, but he is an administrator, not a footballer, and is entitled to look at any position. Administrators are more easily replaced than footballers, and their leaving causes far less disruption than a key player.

2. He is clearly the Escape Goat for the rest of the Essendon. He'll take the hit. He can be blamed for all their problems, and the coach and players can probably avoid the worst of the punishment.

3. I have met him and he's a reasonably nice guy.

Who do you reckon put Doc Reid's letter in the bin?????????????

Robson is probally unemployable now:eek:
Doubt that.

Haven't a bunch of Crows admin folks been banned from footy but will still be welcomed back with open arms?

He may have to do his dues elsewhere for a while though.

Blah blah blah, Robson is a flog.

Now the main question is, do I tip Essendon this week thinking they'll get up to prove the doubters wrong or do I tip the Tigs thinking that this week will be the straw the breaks the Essendon camel's back?

Hmmmm, first world problems! :(

Conspiracy theory - Hawthorn needed an insider at Essendon. Managed to get Robson in as CEO. Secretly plotted the drugs saga, to perfection.

Watch Robson return to Hawthorn. Hi fives!
