So you can pick up Ibbo in the Defence/Midfield...a bit to late to get him now but would he be considered a keeper in the backline? Wouldn't be considered a keeper in the Midfield but im sure most would love to have him their 7th defender...

Thoughts?

I don't have him unfortunately but the way he's going, he is a keeper at the moment. The reason i say at the moment is that he hasn't proved or shown that he is capable of keeping this form up for a whole year just yet. I think you need to be ready to upgrade him just in case his form drops. If he is keeping this form up with 5 or 6 round remaining, you can pencil him in as a keeper.

There is not a massive difference in the backline this year other than C.Cornes and Shaw. Has averaged 86 since he has cemented his spot in the team, even if it drops to 70 odd a week, still very handy if he is you 7th backman and no need for an upgrade.

No need to touch Ibbotsen....let him ride and treat him as 7th back.

He's not a 1st yr player and may not tire out...even 65 odd per week from here would justify holding.

When he has his first shocka rememeber that even the established guns do the same.

Had him since the start and he has saved pts as an emergency and also trades by becoming a keeper. With all the turmoil in the backs he's now a lucky charm.

Realise $ elsewhere.

yeah ill be keeping him as my 7th defender for the moment. there isnt much quality in the backline and at current averages is hard to beat

He isn't a rookie though. He is a third year player (from the draft of the likes of DT guns Murphy/Pendlebury/Birchall) so this could be his breakout year. I see no reason why he can't keep it up.

Take out his first game and his average is ahead of the likes of Bradshaw/Fisher/Bowden/Symes/Milburn/Goddard. He is a good 7th back or, if he keeps this up, you could get away with him being your 6th back.

I have him in my back line and will probably keep him for the rest of the season (unless injured or dropped/rested)

So what you're saying to me is I should realistically discard my idea of using Ibbo and Wona as cashcows to upgrade to premiums? As like you have said, there really aren't standout Premium/Must-Haves in the backs this year besides Cornes and Shaw.

I had plans to upgrade Wona and Ibbo (only 7 trades left) to the likes of Johncock, Osborne etc but having read everyone's posts, might be worthwhile persisting with these 2 boys.................

Well, seven trades at this stage isn't much so I think you may be forced to stick with them. An upgrade would only see you gain about 5-15 pts a week on average. Don't think it is worth a trade especially if you have problems in other positions.

Maybe, if you have 2-3 trades left during the finals, you could upgrade one of them to a defender who has an easy run home.

Got him in my midfield :( Would definately be a keeper as a 7th back.

Thanks Benno, that has certainly helped me put things into perspective. Youre probably spot on, your justifications seem....................justified ;)

Ibbo and Wona to stay in my backline!

ive got ibbo on the bench atm and have waters on field...if waters form doesnt come back in the next 2 weeks is it a good idea to put ibbo on the field and trade waters to a rookie

As an avid Beau fan and hardcore Eagles supporter, in order to achieve victory in DT, I have stood clear of most Eagles (except for rooks and Coxy).

IMO he is a keeper IF you have both Shaw and Cornes.

These two are the only defenders that a team must have, as there are no other significantly reliable upgrades worthy of a trade for Ibbotson.
