yeah Kenny hinkley said on SEN that both are okay. Both just got heavy knocks and heavy bruising. Ling still has to have all the pre cautionary scans but both are expected to be okay for Round 1.

Ling say he'll be right for round 1, Kelly said he'll be right in a few days.:thumbsu:

Great to hear, but at the same time, a bit of perspective and reality is needed.

Injuries are part of competitive sport, they happen to pretty much everyone at some point, and they can occur at any time. Training ground, practise matches, matches for premiership points, finals. That's why you build a list with depth, because you'll never have everyone fully fit - or rarely.

All I can say is winning is an infectious feeling, and watching Matty Scarlett and Thompson lift the cup (albeit the preseason) felt pretty damn good. For the sake of a couple of minor injuries - I'll take that.

There is no one is hell i would give the cup back to have two players injury free.

As so many people have rightly said, all games are a risk. For all we know, we could have lost the game and 30 seconds into round 1, both Ling and Kelly go down with more serious injuries and we would be back at square one having lost out 10th sucessive grand final.

I know it's only the pre-season cup and means little to most clubs, but i must say i was very excited on Saturday night. As my father so rightly said, a premiership is a premiership. He has been a member for 40 strait years and this is the first success he has witnessed and boy was he happy, like most of us cats fans.

This cup represents a hell of a lot more than just a win. As Bomber said, the Monkey is now off our back and now we can concerntrate on winning the big one. That win gave our team such confidence that will be used on a bigger stage, hopefully the final Saturday in September.

I don't care if it's only pre-season. It was special!

P.S Don't go wasting your money on buying the 2006 NAB Cup Grand Final win on DVD. Wait until late September and get the 2006 NAB Cup & 2006 Premiership double DVD pack. It will be cheaper :D

Heard on the radio maybe 3-6. He did go up to accept his medal, so it cant be that bad!!

(also take into consideration that we got 2 weeks till the season, so he shouldnt miss that many games)

I dont think anyone wanted to sprawl themselves out accross the boys more in that photo with the cup after the game than poor old Lingy, the man would give his left nut for a premiership - and i don't think a knee injury would keep him from hobbling up to receive his medal.

if it was the afl premiership i rekon he woulda throw away his crutches, hopped up the little stand and yelled "im attractive" in the microphone in front of a packed MCG.

Get well soon Lingy, and enjoy the celebtrations in Septmeber!

As for the photo with the cup (yesterdays Herald Sun), the best thing about it is Moons. Hes just got the biggest silliest grin on his face, shoes n socks off.. and hes got the cup.. just brilliant.
