Im pretty new to the AFL but I was wondering about Carey and the Brownlow medal. Everyone says that Carey is the best player in the AFL (except this year its been koutafides). My question is why has neve won a brownlow. The Brownlow medal goes to the best player right? and Koutafides who has been the best player in the AFL this season was favourite to win he brownlow until he got injured. So why hasn't he got one?

Carey hasn't won the Brownlow for the same reason that people like Robbie Flower, Trevor Barker, Leigh Matthews, Bruce Doull, Geoff Southby, David Dench, Wayne Schimmelbusch, Gary Ablett, Stephen Silvagni, Craig Bradley, Dermott Brereton, Stephen Kernahan, Tim Watson, Michael Long, Maurice Rioli, Garry Hocking, Garry Pert, Paul Roos, Teddy Whitten, Chris Langford, Andrew Mcleod, Peter Matera, Glen Jakovich, Dean Kemp, etc. etc. haven't won one.

Tony Liberatore has a Brownlow though.

golions, so of all the teams you hate the Kangaroos the most.

Don't bother asking questions about outright champions of the game, what you should be asking is where are all the Brisbane players in the All-Australian team, SORRY NONE WERE GOOD ENOUGH.

HAHAHAHAHA

If your new to the game I suggest you go away and do some research on the following:

1. You controlled the tribunal in the years G.Williams won his brownlows

2. Brad Hardie

3. Robert Dipperdomenico

4. Tony Liberatore

5. Why Carey never polls well and has been quite clearly the best player in the game since Brereton left Hawthorn.

IE: Brownlow is sometimes a joke and sometimes makes sense... just like umpiring generally....

Umpires are on the field with the players during games (sometimes you wouldn't think so) & interacting with them. Therefore personalities come into it. You backchat umpires you don't get votes. I know there have been exceptions but there always are.

Its also for the fairest & most briliant (isn't it?). Carey is briliant but not always the fairest.

Personaly I think that the media awards & the players award are a better guide to a players performance over a season.

The Brownlow has the prestege & the history.

If there were no big screens when carey plays, he might do better.
I'm sure they don't appreciate their 'mistakes' being pointed ourt to them by him on the replay.
