Don't worry we have a contingency plan, in fact it's pretty common knowledge that Collingwood have already approached managers of some of the big free agents and just registered their interest, just in case Cloke leaves.

Let's say Trav leaves, well there's a 700k (our latest offer to him) in the Cap, and yes, some of that would go to the other uncontracted players, but it's likely most of them will be signed by the time Trav makes up his mind anyway.

We would get someone, it may not be a Goddard type massive name, but we would pick up a free agent from somewhere, of that I have no doubt.

It might also depends on who steals Cloke from us. If its GWS then we should return the favour and steal Patton.
If its Fremantle then grab Fyfe off them

Personally I dont think Cloke will leave, but for the sake of the discussion...

I dont think going after some kids we can develop is ideal. Our premiership window is open now. In 3-5 years time, who knows. But next year, assuming we maintain our midfield (which with Steele, Beams and Wellingham stepping up to the next level will prob be the best in the league), and our key backs, we are still in the mix.

IMO we need to go for developed players to have a crack next year and the one after.

Goddard imo would be huge. Obviously not a one for one swap though, in terms of positions. I dont think he is overrated at all, and seems to be traveling nicely this year. Last year? Not sure what happened there, injuries perhaps?

Jamar would be interesting choice.

Im sure there are other choices, but point is, developed player.

Got to love haters! massive call to say he doesnt have the 'will' to play anymore. Unless you have a hotline to Thomas, im going to write this off as utter bollocks. Sure maybe this year he hasnt been worth 700,000. He's been injured, he will bounce back. I was a Thomas hater for years, but since 2009-2010 iv been eating my words every weekend.

I am no Thomas hater but I had a recollection that his 2011 season tapered off after his suspension and that he had underperformed in the final H&A games and finals. However, checking the stats, my recollection seems more a misconception. 31 disposals in the GF is generally considered a reasonable effort in a losing team. Also, his suspension was later in the season than I'd thought, so the string of ordinary games I recalled actually consisted of the prelim and GF only. I will crawl back under my rock.
