It's this exact shit that turned me off the game mid 2018. And the only reason I've come back this year is because of the enjoyment of watching Vic teams being pushed out of their comfort zone of barely having to leave home for the majority of a season*.
The part that stood out for me was how the AFL argue that the GF should be at the biggest stadium, that's why it's always at the MCG, yet that reason doesn't seem to suit them this year.
Gil and Hocking have flushed the game down the shitter and it's a joke of a competition.
*just to be clear, I'd much prefer there to be no virus in Vic or Australia and I derive no enjoyment with the current situation Victorians are in.

The other interesting snippet I got from the ABC sportstalk segment was that media were told 45 mins prior to Gil's announcement, but the WA journalists are staying 1 hour away, so no chance of being there.

Just had a listen. From about 10:20-14:00 Wheeldon launches a most impressive spray at the AFL hierarchy in general and Gil in particular. If half of what he claims is true then it is damning on those concerned. Worth a few minutes of your time.

Didn’t get to hear the crescendo of Clint’s impressive tirade at Gil and the AFL.
Did you listen to the radio segment? Gil has refused to speak to WA media all season. Then they said that they couldnt do a press conference after the GF announcement because the internet at the QLD resort wouldn't let them do a Zoom call, despite them using it to do zoom to announce the GF location and do a conference with Vic media.
Gil then went to do a press conference with QLD premier at the Gabba. They announced this only 45mins before, which meant the WA media hubbing with WA teams couldn't get there in time as they are staying more than 45min away.
They clearly are cutting our media out of the loop to avoid any scrutiny of their decision.
Yeah, that happened for me. Weird.
And as Wheeldon said that campaigner Gil was on VFL360 with Slobbo and Whateley the same night of the GF announcement via Zoom.
That interview was being done from a resort where the internet supposedly isn’t up to scratch to use such platforms.
I think Clint’s cynicism around the AFL Media and hierarchy dodging the hard questions is well founded based on what I heard in that opinion piece.

Problem is there's probably nothing we can do about it.
I guess we could threaten to pull out of the comp, but it seems a bit much, I doubt we actually would, and I don't want to call the AFLs bluff.

Boot Auskick out of our state for a start. Have our own state sponsored grass roots program. Give them as little money as possible from WA, think of ways to bleed them they don’t deserve our support

I've always though that having a mini hub early in the season could be benefit sinking as we can have a run of home games in exchange in the last few rounds.
