No wonder he can't kick 35m, his legs are tired!

Its not a knock on Langdon, covering that much distance is impressive. But at the end of the day, this is football and not track and field

Its like the rationale for Masten being selected so often:

"Chris can run!"
"But what about tackling, contested ball, hitting the scoreboard??....."
"Ahhh.........but he can run!!"

Just west coast prioritising west coast things 😂

Annoyingly, Brander (who is also featured above), who is clearly already a good runner, we tried to make an even better runner rather the getting him in the gym.....

Certainly not a useless stat as it does help show who's working (and not working) during a game. But it would have to be close to the most overrated/overvalued stat imo (especially at certain clubs)

Masten was selected over 200 times by two different premiership-winning coaches.

He played his role, and played it well.

In all fairness to Degoey, his lame trashy Halloween dressing gown opportunism to display his body tatts aside,
he should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
Although ironically I wonder how he and his drinkin' buddy, with their white gangbanga look, would've coped if they'd bumped into some genuine NY gangbangas?

Look at Jack Darling. Undersized KPF pushing close to 100kgs and still be a strong runner.
Think the role Brander should be playing is that third tall that can play As KPF if he is needed to.

Towards the end of the season, when playing, it was noticeable Langdon was able to get to a lot more contests than the rest of the team. We just need his fitness crossed with shueys kicking.

If Langdon could show a bit of dash and kick further than 35m, he would actually be a good option for us as a traditional-style wingman.

Perhaps it's just something to do with this club and the number 7.

After the Round 6 implosion against Geelong, despite starting off the forward flank, Langdon was effectively deployed into the long-redundant "Masten" aerobic sweeping role, running up and down the ground like a cattle dog to little effect.

It is the reason why a "pressure forward" ended up with the same number of rebound 50s per game as inside 50s; and just 37% of his tackles were had inside attacking 50 in comparison to his previous career average of just under 50%.

It wasn't until after the Round 20 debacle against Collingwood that this sad state was finally put to an end.

As for Langdon in season 2022 - what do you do with a player that can run all day, but has negligible hurt factor due to a lack of both pace and penetrative disposal? He will be behind Ryan, Rioli, Cripps, Petrevski-Seton, Jones and Petruccelle for the limited small forward opportunities among the land of the giants attack as well.

Unless something radical occurs during the offseason and he makes major improvements to his skill set, with an age of 26 next year he is on track to becoming list clogging material in the WAFL until the end of 2023 when his contract runs out.

1. Why V/AFL and not just AFL (since 1996)?
2. Certainly not Gibson!

22 footballers who played their entire career after September 2nd, 1996.

The best 22 since the V/AFL Team of the Century:
FB: Corey Enright, Matthew Scarlett, Josh Gibson
HB: Shannon Hurn, Alex Rance, Luke Hodge
C: Scott Pendlebury, Simon Black, Nat Fyfe
HF: Dustin Martin, Jonathan Brown, Patrick Dangerfield
FF: Adam Goodes, Lance Franklin, Eddie Betts
FO: Dean Cox, Chris Judd, Gary Ablett Jnr
INT: Max Gawn, Joel Selwood, Matthew Pavlich, Nick Riewoldt

Thats the team.

How does Voss, Hird & Cousins just to name a few not get named over Fyfe?
