To be honest no...They are using this an example..Todd Curly is low profiled player and the AFL is making an example out of him...If was James Hird or any other high profiled player nothing would have been said..eg..Wanganeen..Gehrig...I bet you the tribunal would have believed any of these "high" profiled players if they said they didnt do it deliberatly or if they said i didnt see him they would have got off....No doubt..It is clear as day on the field many high profiled players are looked after..The umpires are pathetic and wouldnt have the conviction to do it to a big name player anyways..That whinging little shit of an ump was gutless and a dickhead..How could he say Curly deliberatly bumped him when his back was turned?

I agree if the umpire was so concerned why didnt he make a match day report ?? He only made the report on the advice of Jeff Geischen.

If it was James Hird the umpire would have given James Hird his calling card and asked him out on a date. There is no way that Hird would have been suspended for four weeks. Imagine the outcry. Primary schools all over Essendon would be shut down as kids would start protesting. Kevin Sheedy would get into another argument with Robert Walls. Mike Sheehan would have a mid life crisis.

Its quite simple Todd Curley was made an example of. They probably thought that the bulldogs are broke so they wouldnt appeal the decision.

James Hird would not be stupid enough to run into an umpire. Its what seperates the good from the rest, the ability to see things.

The umpire would have apologised to James Hird for even having the audacity to be standing on the same grass as him. He would have had himself suspended from umpiring for 4 weeks and sent a bouquet of flowers every day so Jimmy could get over the mental anguish he caused!

James Hird was used as the umpires love him. For the case in point we can substitue him with Wanganeen if you like.

Just keep on hating, I know you can't help it.

It's an odd obsession they have isn't it?

Geez!! Wanganeen woulda got 8!!!
Have you seen the amount of suspensions he has had, and what he has actually done to get those suspensions?? One or two things last year, noone else would of been reported other than it was wanganeen.

If it was a Hird or a Koutofides or a Bickley or a Adrian Fletcher, people who give off the nice guy image, they wouldnt of fronted up to the tribunal

The reason Hird doesn't get pinged all that often is that he rarely gets tackled.

But Same old's right on two fronts:

1. Its about Curley - not Hird - and I reckon Todd was unlucky to not be blessed with much in the way of sporting grace - buts that's hardly worth a 4 week holiday... the sort of suspension reserved for wilful thugs like a certain erstwhile Carlton centreman....

2. The Hird obsession is hilarious! Particularly love the ODN comment... priceless! "when we hit 17... it was a VERY good year... etc.."

What was the excuse offered by Greg Williams, who had exceptional peripehral vision? From memory, it was that he was focussed on the play.

Yeah, I know.....it's sort of like that anti-Carey thread over his punch on Kane Johnson on Bombertalk.

I have no idea what Carey, North Melbourne, Kane Johnson, and Adelaide have to do with Essendon, but there you go......

James Hird envy ODN

Just because he's shit loads better than Kouta!!!

A true gentleman and an ornament to the game.

Shame he plays for Essendon though.

James would be crazy to jeopardize his good relationship with umpires. James must enjoy the fact that he has a green light at all times.
