if matthew stokes kicked the goal at the end and not a point would every1 still be bitching. or would everyone say wow we actually beat the flood something we struggle with. cmon it was only four points sure i was disappointed, but lets look at some positives, mackie flogged franklin, nathan abloett marked everythin that came near him even though he had six disposals, blake played really well in the ruck and stokesy forward line pressure was great. we also didn't get dominated in clerance which is hawthorn strength is and ours isn't. we played poorly but we still only lost by four points at a ground we never played at. if we beat kangas this week everyone better be saying its only the kangaroos wait till we play freo and weagles before we get ahead of ourselves

its still a good point. People are quick to bag everyone for one bag game, lay off them, in gusty crap conditions that didnt suit our talls, lets bag them if they play two poor games in a row, give them a break, they are human after all. Even know you wouldnt know it by the way some of you talk.

He didn't kick the goal period.

And yes who gives a stuff if we beat both the Kangaroos and Tigers in the next 2 weeks - proves absolutely nothing.

It does prove things. If we lose to either of those teams (the Roos being the more likely), then we're shot.

Exactly right.
If we lose, our season is gone, and so is Bomber.
If we win, we're at 4-2, well placed to at least enter into the bottom half of the 8... and when it comes to finals, who knows?? If we get to play certain teams at Teltra Dome, then we could go a long way.

And if my Auntie had a beard she'd be my Uncle I guess, point is he didn't kick it so it's really a moot point.

Point being overlooked is that it should never have come down to that one kick, that "if" we're really as good a side as many believe we should have won comfortably, meaning no disrespect to them but it's hard to find positives from a loss to an undermanned Hawthorn.

The disturbing thing was the old familiar pattern, couple of big wins then we fall over against a side that we were expected to beat.

I am obviously not saying we want to lose these games. I am saying that wins against the kangaroos and Richmond will give us no guide as to whether we can be considered a serious final 8 side. That won't be determined until the following 2 weeks against WC and Freo.

You're right in one way. BUT, these are games we "should" win. If we can't beat both these teams when we should then the team can't be relied on. We beat Carlton when we should have and we beat Melbourne when we should have - good start but not top teams. Richmond are gonna be the spooners so we should be able to EXPECT to beat them, while the Roos are a fair bit more competitive but we should be able to EXPECT to beat them if we are becoming a consistent side.

Similarly we SHOULD have beaten Hawthorn. I would bet that WC and Sydney would beat them.
