I dont get this anti-Daniher sentiment at all.
If your smart enough to find your PC's power button (assumedly proven, your here posting on this forum) you should be able to figure out that ND's record at Melbourne, as basket-case a modern club as there could possibly be, is nothing short of phenominal.
The guy would have won them a flag if he hadnt run into the best performed team of the era at its peak in 2000.
Did anyone else care to take a look at the Demon's injury list earlier this year? If you took half the best 22 out of any club bar West Coast, youd make their coach look pretty damn bad too.
The other argument against Melb is its recruiting. Well crap, Rivers and Miller looked pretty damn good 2 years ago. What coach can predict which kids will come on and which will just stagnate and give up? /wave Kepler Bradley. The irony here is Melbourne back in ~2002 took a much hyped CHB prospect called Luke Molan at #4 or something early like that. The kid broke his leg (badly) and never played a senior game.
If that hadnt happened, and Melbourne hadnt been decimated in 2007 by injuries, perhaps now we would be talking about Melbourne vs Geelong grand finals rather than whether or not Essendon might have a chance at picking up this (excellent) coach.
Summary
* Daniher + hopeless scrub club with no supporters and no money = lots of finals, a grand final loss to the best team of the era
* Daniher + great club with massive supporter base and huge financial resources = ???
If youd reject ND out of hand, your a bleeding fool.

The idea of Andrew Jarman is growing on me as the days pass. Surely he would get looked at by atleast one club. I'd love to see the guy coach, and love it even more if he was at Essendon. Some say you cant get more eccentric that Sheedy.
I say "let's try!"
NO DANIHER!
why do people think all of a sudden he is going to become a great coach at a better club.
look at the list he had at melb. over the last 3 years melbourne list imo has been better than essendons list. or atleast in better shape to win a premieship
There have been some good points raised about the qualities of Daniher in the previous posts but i have a few concerns.
His teams have been EXTREMELY inconsistant - This has been from year to year, or from portions of a season. He seems unable to stop a form slide when it happens. This year doesn't count as injuries have destroyed them, but really has been over his whole time at Melbourne.
He has been labelled as being very slow to react to moves from opposition coaches and by the time he does, it's too late.
He carries on like a 2 bob watch in the coaches box - Not totally sure if this is a real negative or is it that we are so used to Sheeds and him being so calm.
I would prefer not to get Neal as our coach but if the board chooses him, then i will support their decision and await our new era with enthusiasm.
I want Robbo! Has always been one of my favourite players.
