there would actually be more picks. to get a pick in the PSD you have to PASS in the National Draft. It would just be a case where every team passes on 1 or 2 picks. HOWEVER, MORE LIKELY: a lot would go to a newly created 16th (replacement) team as would be similar situation to Port beginnign where uncontracted players could be signed by the new club without a draft process. It would have the potential to be either a HUGE psd or one of the smallest ever.

Brisbane got to take 8 players from the carcass. But what happened to the other members of the list? Some of them ended up playing out decent careers (Primus, Pike), but the majority wound up on the scrap heap.

The AFL would have to pay out their contracts, but beyond that my guess is that it would be a whopper of a draft year.

The AFL in their infinite wisdom will probably create a one off draft to divy up the spoils.

But the Southport Sharks will have miraculously have 16 concession picks before Richmond or Essendon have their first pick as the wooden spooner.

If they die the AFL will create a new team instantly and the players IMO would be offered a continuation of their current contracts plus a "bonus" for signing with the new team.

The new team would also gain player rights and have the right to trade Kangaroos players to other clubs if they wanted or the players could walk.
