...are you gonna make the trip over from Perth?

Absolutely no doubt in my mind where I'll be come September if we are there.

The Great Southern Stand.

I don't care how much it costs, or what I have to do to get there, I'm going to the MCG every single time we are in a GF until we win one.

I just hope we don't pull a Geelong, or I could end up very broke.

during the 92 and 94 premierships i was at uni so i had no cash. i would defiantly go over to melbourne if the eagles get in the grand final.

the father inlaw is actually getting married on grand final day this year (pretty stupid thing to do) and I've told him I will be i Melbourne if the Eagles make it this year.

Unless you have a Captains Club membership, good luck to you getting tickets. With allocations to MCC and AFL members, the other 14 non-grand finalists, corporate guests, officials, etc there's little left for members of the supporting teams.

Do you have Captains Club membership Carly?

Even without membership it is still relatively easy to get tickets if you have the cash.

All the other teams sell their allocation of tickets for around $1000 each.

Very stupid in fact. I know a couple who had scheduled their wedding on that day, and they had to reschedule because heaps of people said they weren't gonna come because they were gonna watch the footy.

I'd stay at home and watch the footy too.

$1000? Farkin hell i hope you have some cash on you then! Having said that if North were in the finals, i would pull out all stops to save up enough money to go, even if it's by myself.

Not if, but WHEN we make the next Grand Final I'll definately be there to watch the boys bring the cup back.

Places to stay - would have to go for something cheapo unless it's on a packaged deal.

I'll be there.

As for the how part, thats a little less certain. Penniless student that I am, I guess if i scrimped, saved, and sold vital posessions I could probably raise the grand for a ticket. Getting there would be interesting- probably the best way would be to get together a group of like minded sorts, split the cost of hiring a minibus, and go overland, driving in shifts.

Probably....money is always an issue but it could be a once in a lifetime opportunity (you would hope not :D) so I would definitely do everything in my power to go over to Melbourne.

Yes.

How is tricky - just for the practicalities. In 92 I wanted to go, but as a recent migrant, I had no money. By 94, I'd wangled the opportunity to work in Melbourne and moved over, but retained my Eagles season ticket at Subi, which I just let a mate use, on the proviso that when we got into a GF, I'd get the ticket.

This happened and I got the ticket, but I was ordering an Australia Post all points west search by Thursday.

Now back in Perth, the difficulty is not being able to plan ahead more than one week and having the time off work / money to make the trip (getting a ticket will be OK because despite all the talk, when push comes to shove, you won't get 20,000 people going from WA. This year might be a bit harder because of an 80,000 MCG capacity.

Perhaps the answer is: The BIGFOOTY BUS!!!!!

Hire a bus with quite a few seats, spread the cost and drive over & back.

You can get a ticket as part of a travel package. You just have to work out which travel agents do it.

There's one catch: For them to make money, you have to buy a package - plane tickets, game tickets, gf breakfast tickets, and accomodation is optional. All up, about $1500. Well worth it. Hard to get good seats though.

You do not know how close to me this situation is, except it REALLY happened!:(
As a 7 year old in 1992 i was dragged along(very unwillingly) to a wedding on grandfinal day! Both my Dad and i were extremely unhappy, but Mum woulda caused an upraw had dad said no:p So yes, i missed seeing our first grand final win live thanks to a bloody wedding:mad:

P.S. MINIBUS!!!! that'd be awesome! And probably the cheapest way, when we make it i have decided ill be there! i got acom so thats all good, id just need a ticket then, hmmm:D:D

I wish I could be there, but with so many kids, it's not easy with money at times.

Still, if they do make a GF while the kids are still at home, I shall be there in spirit. :)

That's a gold idea!! We could get USAEagle to drive us over too. Maybe we need to find a BigFooty hotel/hostel where we could all stay at.
