I haven't got around to checking yet but I bet this thread gets a couple mentions on certain opposition team boards...
I hope so. Most opposition clubs and supporters have always feared us (don't know why Richmond and North don't...), and this very post topic would make their stomachs twist in knots with rage and angst over its potentiality.
I've always thought fear and loathing of the HFC worked in our favor, not against us.
Puts teams on the back foot sort of thing, just expecting us to be great and take the game from them. Makes them less likely to play free-wheeling football, without concern to our being able to hurt them. It's the playing-without-conscience style of footy that is so hard to play against, is every great team's Achilles heel, and it's hard to do that when a club's emotions are so wound up in envy and anger. I think it's why the Bombers struggle so regularly playing us, our history weighs on their every kick and contorts their psyche creating extraordinary pressure to perform.
80's Hawks thrived on everyone's bitterness, I say make them as bitter as you can.
