Carlton: 1906, 1907, 1908.
Collingwood: 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930.
Melbourne: 1939, 1940, 1941.
Melbourne: 1955, 1956, 1957.
Brisbane Lions: 2001, 2002, 2003.

That's what made Brisbane's effort really special. Can't count any of the others because of the way recruiting was done - buy whoever you can afford - and competition was limited to only one or two teams per year.

Would love for the Hawks to emulate that feat.

Obviously I'd like our boys to stop Hawthorn's run, but if you can pull off a premiership hat trick, I'll be among the first to offer my congratulations. Plus of course it means another year where the Crows and Magpies don't win it, which can't be a bad thing

I suppose it depends how you look at it, but that's technically 6 times, with the Wobbles doing it twice in a 4 year period.

With all the talk of back to back Brisbane were mentioned as doing it twice.

Personally, I don't think it should be viewed that way though.

My siblings had gone with some strange choices (Pies, Roos, Cats but I am sure they were just running with peer pressure). Dad had played for the Tigers and I was on my Pat Malone as a Hawk.

It'd be crazy. We would have a whole new bunch of 3 time, 2 time and 1 time premiership players as well as some 4 time premiership players. Can't afford to think about it too much, there's a whole season to go and going to be a few contenders to the throne.

I can not remember there being one other Hawks supporter in my primary or secondary school and my high school was the largest in Victoria. Young hawks supporters were exceeding thin on the ground in those days. I don't think I can't remember meeting another real (I exclude the rat lady as she was from NSW) hawks supporter in civil circles until the mid 80's.

I finished high school in Brisbane at a time when the Lions qualified for 4 GFs in succession and won a hat trick of flags...and growing up amongst a shit load of Brisbane Lions fans (the Scott brothers went to my school) was pretty brutal as the Hawks fan

At the time I was known as 'the' Hawthorn fan (in a school of 1200) Fast forward a decade and there are at least 6 people in my grade that are now Hawthorn fans. Some thanks to found again family lineage and some of my own doing

On my fathers side my grandparents both came from Hawthorn families, on my mothers side my Uncle chose the Hawks when my mother and her family emigrated to Australia from the UK in the mid 60s (as two bob poms)

I hazard to suggest that the odds of three families coming together that all supported the Hawks in the 50s (grandparents) and then the early 80s (parents) is pretty rare...

Not so these days fortunately!

I think most of on here know who the greatest team of the last 10 years, and since 2000, is, but a three-peat would put to bed, once and for all, all the ridiculous debate about that. We will be head and shoulders the best team of the last 10 years, since 2000, in the AFL era, in the last 50 years etc etc etc.......

Possibly, but the next time a mate and/or an obnoxious Pies fan bangs on about their 1927-1930 4-in-row priemership record kindly reminded them that they played in 6 GF's to win 4! At the risk of going off topic can you imagine the same finals system today, i.e. would Hawks have beaten the Cats if they had challenged with a GF replay in 2008 - probably not? Opposingly would Hawks have won the GF rematch vs Swans in 2012 - probably yes?
