OK, knowing how many of you feel about the West Australian and its reporting, we should take this piece with a block of salt. Notice there are no cited sources, no one from the team's or Mundy's camp quoted

Still worth a read and consideration: http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/af...l-with-fremantle/story-fniv64vs-1226971900467

We'll see...
It's from Hagdorn. Thank God.
This means the exact opposite. We've got him.

Hagdorn has no sources who tell him anything.
He makes stuff up based on what he does know, which is already in the public record.
He frequently gets things badly wrong. Eg Clutterbuck being banned, how the father son works in the last two weeks alone.

He has agreed to stay with us - that is the main thing for positive news for mine, he wants to be here, that is a good starting point. I think only a club not in contention would give him 4 years but I don't see why we don't offer him the 3 with reasonable incentives for 4th, he has been very durable and has shown no signs of slowing down.

Great comment Gil "This story would be more credible with any named sources or anyone quoted as affirming the "facts."

But you are expecting too much from PerthNow :p I don't think he'll get a 4 year deal at his age either but still confident that he will sign on with us for another 3 years with the potential for a one year contract extension is he's still going strongly towards the end of it.

Will Mundy qualify for Veterans rules as part of this deal like Pavlich, McPharlin and Sandilands or is that finishing?

Mundy has been incredibly durable in his time with his only significant injury being an impact one thanks to David Hilles big hoof. In theory I would be ok with four years if you could have a clause where certain performance criteria can still be met going into the last year - like 3 km time trials, 20 m sprint etc. Fletcher and Harvey have shown that not all players age the same, fair chance Mundy could be another but a safety net clause would be nice.

Love your work in the comments section below Gil.

Also, how does this guy keep his job as a journo? Basic spelling errors, zero actual facts, no credibility amongst his peers.

He could play his last years in the position we drafted him for. Key Defender.
Totally agree. Might have lost a step of pace by then but would have still have the touch to create time to evade and make smart decisions out of defence. Only question on what position. Not back pocket on a quick small, likely the half back.

I reckon he's gone if you win the flag this year. Otherwise he'll stay.
If you could guarantee me now that we would win a flag for the cost of Mundy leaving as I much as I have loved him in purple I would take it.
So to me that is a win semi-win type situation.
