If you could bring back a past player, Who?

Albert Thurgood.

He was a Wst Australian who played for Essendon in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I want to see how good "Albert the great" really was.

I want to know if he was really the greatest of all time like the old-timers say.

Of the blokes i saw, Matthews by a street.

Of the 'legendary' types, who were around before my time, John Peck appeals, like to see the bloke who gave the 23 jumper its infamy at Hawthorn (though its been diluted a bit in recent years).

Grant 32,

Thurgood, was by all reports one of the greatest players of all time. He was an athlete who also played cricket at Shield level, and he was a prodigious kick. Some of the things I have read about him were truly amazing. He apparently would single-handedly win games of his own boot.

I just want to see how good the bloke really was. What in god's name would make you think that he couldn't kick a footy properly?????? That's a bit of a stupid comment isn't it?

Bob Pratt

With this greatest of full forwards we would be unbeatable.

others would of course be Bob Skilton, Herbie Matthews, John Rantall, Vic Belcher and Fred Goldsmith.

But so everyone could see what a truly great footballer he really was, another one to bring back to life would be Roy Cazaly.

cheers

BSA,

If Pratt really was the greatest full-forward of all time (I don't think he was), then why did he only average 4 goals per game? I could be wrong on this, but I think he may have averaged BELOW 4 a game, but i'm not sure.

I know he had one remarkable season, but his other 100 goal seasons were no better than other players 100 goal seasons.

Coleman and Hudson both averaged about 5.5 a game over their career (Hudson with the slightly higher average), while both Lockett and Dunstall averaged around 5 goals per game.

That's not to understate Pratt's brilliance, since he was obviously a remarkable player, but apart from that one 150 goal season, he didn't do anything different to any other 100 goal full-forward.

I know Coleman didn't kick 150 in a season or anything like that, but he did average 5.5 goals a game over his career, 25 years before Hudson, who had the benefot of a higher scoring era. Coleman averaged "about" 35% more goals per game than Pratt did.

Simon Madden, not only one of the best Ruckmen ever, but also a great goal scorer, excellent mark and also shepherded for his team mates.
Cheers

Ablett would have to be the greatest player ever to play the game. He easily out shines the rest for skill, ability and sheer entertainment.
