If you ever needed proof (mark of the year)

Called it when they announced the contenders. 2x Pies players to split the Collingwood votes and Daniher to get the bulk of the pies haters votes.

This was a carefully manufactured result, make no mistake.

What isn't with the AFL?

There is no doubt a deliberate narrative against Collingwood. They use every means possible to "equalise" the competition.
Fans, money, fixtures (Pies are sunday specialists), gates, umpiring (QB clash was clearly fixed), banning Gubby only when he joined the pies, drugs being tied to Collingwood only only etc...

Was always likely when they split the Collingwood vote like that.

Everyone knows Howe took the best grab. He took the second best grab on QB.

No one aside from Bombers supporters will look back in awe at Daniher's mark. He didn't even jump that high. It was good. Not great.

If it was voted by the public, why wasn't there a link on this forum?

everyone knows MOTY is voted by the public, every year. Its all over the AFL's website.

Tbh, I'm sick of the club rolling over.

Disappointed for him as he was also super unlucky RE AA this year.

For some reason though, what really annoyed me was this tweet.

Pretty ordinary and nothing of real value from a journalist. Say Richmond get smashed on Saturday, anyone care to guess Jon Ralph's body language. I bet you anyone who does witness it will have the decency not to tweet about it...

Fact is we should have been voting on all 3 Howe marks. He took the best, second and third best marks this year.
Totally agree.

But don't worry Daniher is a good bloke that jumped one foot.

I wonder how many posters in this thread, took the time to vote for Howe?
Would have made no material difference.

Unfortunately people don't really vote in who they thought was the best mark, they voted for the team they don't support except the Collingwood people.

An oyster sucking a lemon??? Wtf?

Is that really a saying or did Ralphy cross eyes go all Bjelke-Peterson on us?

And Jeremy Howe sent a lovely congratulations tweet to Daniher.
But typical sewer rat journalist always putting the worst remarks out

Joe Danihers mark is better than Howes because he took it in the hands.
Surely you dont believe this? Players that get super high take it at chest height because they have leapt too high to take it in their hands. By this rule you are saying that danihers mark is better than shaun smiths hanger. It doesnt make sense.

But a Collingwood player (Krak, Elliott) have won MOTY year in previous years
Each year, there are circumstances, who else was competing, was it judged or a vote?

Ultimately posterity will show Howe ongoing

Not sure I understand what point you are now making
First its: Collingwood could never win, so Howe was no chance
Now its: Well, who were we competing against in the years we did win

Hold still a minute, so I can hit that f**king target, you keep moving it

Yeah but it hasnt always been a fan vote. When krak won it was selected by the AA selectors which is perplexing as walkers mark was miles better. Im pretty sure Elliots was selected by the AA panel aswell. The year Jurrah won it goddard won mark of the week that round but the AA panel over rode it and named jurrah the winner. The fan vote is a disaster and will probably change fairly quickly now.

To determine the final three finalists the 23 marks of the week, plus 5 chosen by the AFL go to a panel to consider. This itself says the AFL isn't confident the public will get it right. Why then is the final vote left solely to the public?

Perhaps it should be 50/50 determined by the public/players?

Is it is left solely to the public 5 finalists are needed to minimise manipulation of the vote.
