Macca19 said:The photos are a non event. I think thats the whole point. If the photo on the front cover is what set Goodwin off....then its a complete over reaction on his part too. Goodwins gone mental over a picture with his hands in his pockets and the Advertiser have gone overboard with the whole 4 page spread.
SpringChoke - You seem to be forgetting an Adelaide Crows listed player at the time was alledgedly involved in said alledged incident a few years ago.
Sort of well known?pjcrows said:disagree there, mate. sort of well-known sportsman pushes a photographer? i'm sorry, but that wouldn't be headline news in most parts of the world. it highlights our ignorance and inferiority complex, actually.
I said main source along with 5AApjcrows said:but seriously, you say that the advertiser is adelaides only source of football news? come on, man.

That's the crux of it though - as an Essendon support you would get zilch about Essenden in the Advertiser but much more in the Herald Sun, hence why that's your main source.eastaugh36 said:As an Essendon supporter, I stay clear of it. I will buy it on Fridays for the sanfl teams and the racing pages. I borrow them elsewhere for the other days and I rarely see anything in it that is worth the $1 except for Fridays when it is ok. Herald Sun is better, it is not full of advertising and they have in depth stories, not small articles.

In Melbourne if I foolowed a vic AFL club I have 2 papers to choose from and 3 AFL dominated radio stations
Much more choice .............leads to better quality stories BUT over here repoters don't need to generate their own stories, the players are good enough to generate their own.
Nope your wrong - football clubs have been having "Mad Mondays" after footy seasons for years.*PAF said:Do not blame the Tiser too much peoples.
These type of things would make headlines no matter what country or what sport the players are involved in.
It happened to Gazza only recently.
What about top line footballers or Basketball players in the US?
Other soccer players in England, Spain, Italy or Germany be they first or even second division players?
Being high profile does have some benefits (having fun by doing what you like AND being paid handsomely for it amongst other things), but it does bring a few responsibilities with the territory. The players pucked up.
Time to get on and build bridges for them plus like Craigy said use it as a learning experience. However defending them by blaming the Tiser is not right.
?
Me? I am not a high profile person so it's different, plus if I was to pour beer all over a parking inspector I would get sued.Wayne's-World said:Nope your wrong - football clubs have been having "Mad Mondays" after footy seasons for years.
There are some really stupid things done during the mad week BUt do you see reporters trying to capitalise on what is an opportunity to get some real dirt on a player?.
No the event is largely left alone out of respect for players downtime.
Now this event by Goodwin was exactly the same - player downtime for Christmas celebrations after a hard training period.
How many Christmas parties would you have wanted a photographer present?

Thats why I say the Advertiser has got Crows fans by the proverbial![]()

Harmless type of prank I know, but a person should be able to go out to earn a living for himself and family and do his job without having to put up with that sort of crap shouldn't one?
SpringChoke said:No they haven't. I for one, have stopped buying the rubbish.
SC no doubt forums like Bigfooty help enormously in filling the void should you not read the Advertiser or us interstaters.SpringChoke said:No they haven't. I for one, have stopped buying the rubbish.
Did you notice how the Advertiser tried to avoid saying who actually throw the drink at the packing inspector; they seem to be using there normal ability to "glaze" over facts or incidents that fail to sensationalise the incident.*PAF said:On the parking inspector not suing, how can he if he doesn't know who did it?
Yeah the person appears to be an average joe and not an AFC player ....so not really newsworthydA Crow said:Did you notice how the Advertiser tried to avoid saying who actually throw the drink at the Advertiser; they seem to be using there normal ability to "glaze" over facts or incidents that fail to sensationalise the incident.

I don't buy the rag tiser. We get a few copies at work that circulate the offices. I only buy sunday mail. Thats in.Wayne's-World said:Don't normally respond to these threads BUT
Everyone says should not / will not buy the Advertiser
But you will Adelaide fans because it's your main source of footy info on the Adelaide Crows - they have got you by the proverbial
And I'll wager that nearly everyone got a copy of the paper today to view the article - and then complain...................but why complain the paper is simply satisfying your need for info on the Crows.
If that info is generated by the reporter, as it has this case, they only do it because you will do what you have done and that is buy the paper.
Same argument as Rucci - everyone complains about him but everyone reads his articles.
Contoversy and sex sells!
SpringChoke said:Not my mail. I hear it was the three players who were all identified and the younger brother of one of the players involved.
