My son Liam has just turned 1 and he went and got weighed and measured today he is currently 75cms and they say at age two if you double their height is what their max height will be.

To be a decent footy player you need to be minimum 190cms so he really needs to push another 30cms over the next 12months to reach that height, any ideas on how to help the kiddy grow???

Put him in platform shoes, and spike his hair up.
Also, measure him first thing in the morning, while he's lying down.
A bit of spinal traction couldn't hurt either.

Ensure you keep him healthy and feed him not only healthy food, but the right portion sizes etc., beyond that, its pretty hard to beat genetics.

Pfft. Nothing to be worried about... the doubling the age thing is inaccurate anyway. Some people say double it at 24 months while others say 30 months. It's only an estimate... the estimate could be like 70 cm off.

If you were willing to send young Liam to Kenya to be raised by the Maasai Tribe I'm sure he would gain the height you are after and if he gained some of their bouncing ability I'm sure he would be taking a lot of marks one day, hopefully for the Crows but I hope you don't do that. Don't worry, what will be will be.

I think you will find that the AIS, when assessing people for their ideal sport, use 2 years and 7 months for boys and 2 years and 4 months for girls (as the age at which to double their height).
I'm not sure how accurate it is as I'm 6 foot, my wife is the same and yet going by that our Son will be about 208 cm! He is big, but surely he can't be that big.

Still I have already started developing his point guard skills!

At that height develop him for football.

All you need to do is to teach him that it is fun to run into others and hurt them. Get him to love body contact and to like it rough. Then we will recruit him to Port adelaide and then your nightmare will begin. :D

As for the height thing grab your wifes blue book and look at the charts in the back. The answer will lie there.

As others have said it is only a guide.

My Gramps guessed all three of us (brothers) and got within a few cm's for all. So he predicted who was going to be the tallest, middle and smallest just from doubling at age two

I disagree. Teach him to play Basketball. Make him play it.

then when he turns 16 force him to play footy. Then he will be developed and will learn to kick a footy the right way etc.
