I came in this morning ready to combat, what I thought, would have been a heap of posts about the ALLEGATIONS against the Bombers. I thought I'd encounter - "cheats at it again", "serial cheats", "Slutendon Cheats", but thankfully I was wrong so my hat off to you guys for not doing this.

Pretty sleazy bloody media beat up if you ask me, pretty low. "Essendon denys draft manipulation", that's like "Sam Newman denys murder allegation" or "John Howard denys herroine addict claim", total utter bullshit.

They can't even get the story right, some are saying Davies didn't want to talk to other clubs and some are saying he has told them he doesn't want to be draftted. So which is it you idiot hacks.

Why should clubs care if a player wasn't talking to them, just draft him bad luck. What can he do about it, sit out this draft and wait in hope the Dons will one day be able to draft him, yeah good luck.

So thanks again guys, my already high opinion of you all (G4E excluded) has just got higher.

Cheers.

Rice,
You should have checked before you spoke.
Have a look in "Essendon again" I even added a link to the story. Thoughtful aren't I?

The Blues. The best in the business.

There's a theory that the fines and draft restrictions helped both Essendon and Melbourne this year. It goes:

1) forced them to persevere with players already on the list. They got more time to develop annd the clubs concentrated more on development than chasing 'star' recruits. There is a definate tendency for players to be discarded before they should. If the VFL SANFL becomes a stronger comp then perhaps they can 'rebound' more easily but until then.

2)As noted elsewhere, sheedy definately used it as 'us against' them type motivation
