I withdrew my emotional investment in Richmond about 3-4 years ago when I was fed up.

I thought about jumping back on the bandwagon this year when Martin was inspiring me but haven't yet. Looks like it could be a while....

I felt the same utter disappointment today as everyone else around here did, what our club needs is for everyone to get back out there and support them next week.

Do they deserve it? Probably not. Will we do anything to change how the game goes? Probably not. We will stay united though, just like we have for the last 30 years, supporting this team that brings us all sorts of emotion.

I am 26, Apart from the one or two finals that I have seen and can barely remember any of it. I hear stories about how good we were and how we will get back to that stage once again. It hasn't happened and yet I still have this stupid respect for this team that has shown me nothing but heartbreak.

There are times you wish you were not a tiger fan, which happens a lot, but there are gunna be times in the near future that unless you were a tiger fan, you are going to regret missing.

We gotta stand up just as every week tiger fans. We will get there.

Edit: I know this will get backlash so I should add - I really am just as numb and was definitely more pissed off than I have ever been at the tigers today, but we just gotta keep roaring. Next week is another week. What we can get from the rest of this year is still absolutely huge, and they will definitely need our help.

I already took my break in 2009. I seriously did.stopped going watched games without stressing etc it was good.
I think it bought me some perspective. I'm not as severe as you guys today.I fully expected us to lose today even at quarter time I was prepared for it.
Doesn't make it better just easier to digest.
The reality is that they are better than us and will be for ages.
Sad but true.

My spirit broke today after 30 long years......

Im not even angry anymore.

Its not right to have only been to 4 finals games when your in your mid-30s.

I will continue to contribute as a member each season but they cant ask me turn up anymore after so much. it is up to the younger generation to sit through this. Ive paid my dues watching so many losing seasons.

Im going to join my local golf club and listen to games on the radio and on TV next season.

I will jump on the bandwagon when the time comes - buts its been too long now.

I know we have a lot of kids, I know we dont have a senior core of players to rely on when times get tough - but I dont believe we have senior core of leaders developing amongst the those kids - i dont see anything to suggest their is a genuine leader amongst them.

So by reckoning we are 5-6 years away from making the 8. I should have my hanicap back down to 10 or 12 by then which will be nice.

I THOUGHT I would be posting a vid of my RFC membership card going through the shredder and mailing it to the club, but, Ive decided to tough it out.

Fortunately Ive had a great preparation in dissapointment - so, thanks for building on that tradition RFC!

Might even sign up again next year if they show anything in the rest of the year, but after losing to GCS, probably wont.

(I was going to turn to soley folllowing the Australian Womens water polo team, but they LOST TO CANADA - fair dinkum what a pea hearted effort, Id be suprised if half of them could swim 3 laps without drowning, and perhaps if they didnt rely on doggy paddle they might be a bit faster around the pool FFS Im not putting up with that cr@p ! ....at least Ainslie had a win - GO TRICOLOURS! )

I'm spent as well following this club. I have been going to every Richmond game played in Melbourne for many years. I only missed about 3 or 4 games dues to things like friends or family weddings or birthdays.

To put it simply, I'm sick of coming from so many games disappointed. I have made a decision to become a bandwagon supporter. I will support Richmond and still buy my reserved seat membership (money isn't an issue and I want to keep the seats in case we ever sort everything out), but I will only go to games I believe we're a chance of winning. I made this decision after the Melbourne game. As a result I didn't go to the Carlton game and the team ended up proving my decision was the right one. I have other things I can do with the 4-5 hours on the weekend then to see Richmond to continuously put in a poor perfomance.

monday afternoon, almost 48 hours since 'that game'....my feelings still havent changed that much since then...

i didnt even care that we lost, laughed about it even, then i resorted to what flight i could get over to melbourne to take part with the angry mob outside punt rd...(was there an angry mob??) but decided against it.

this season will see me take no further interest in richmond games, i will only read the stats and score to see how nahas and deledio are going.

they had better give me a good reason to renew my membership, i say this now but i probably will renew.

my gravest concern is that we have lost a generation of supporters after this 30 yr debacle, in 30 years time the true effect of this will be felt.

im 25 and seen us win more games that we lost in a season once or twice...once or twice?? how is that even possible with the draft, salary cap etc: only we could have managed this, this one hurt but this past month has hurt even more...my first game i ever in melbourne, 106 point drubbing thank you very much.

im not going to watch us in perth this year, it will be embarrassing.

i really hope this will turn around soon

The only saving grace for you all is that it only takes a few things to fall your way, and things can turn around.

I can only speak from the experience of following my club. We were a rabble of a club in 1999, we were flat broke and we had a tragic history of failure at key moments (I am not saying that our failure was as devastating as yours, I mean at least we had some enjoyable teams to follow, but still you get my drift....). Then 4 blokes joined our club:

- Frank Costa
- Brian Cook
- Stephen Wells
- Mark Thompson

From there, everything changed. Not quickly mind you, and we had some bumps along the way, but these 4 guys set in place a platform for great success. Everything flowed from there.

Richmond has just as much chance as anyone of finding the 3 or 4 guys needed to change a club. Who knows, some of them might already be at the club?

The only other point I would make is the struggle of 43 years without a flag and the mountain of near-misses made 2007 and 2009 so much more enjoyable. The greater the struggle, the greater the joy when you eventually achieve the ultimate.

With all the struggles you guys have had, how good will the payoff be when you finally get there? It would be a shame to waste all the years of pain to not be there to enjoy the good times. And the good times will come.....

And I am not trying to "give advice" or tell anyone how to react or think because it shits me to tears when people do that to me. I am just trying to give my perspective on the journey of following a club that has had struggles as well as success.

You're not the only one. I have no doubt following the Tigers has made me more negative in general than I could have been. Whenever (if) a premiership ever comes it still won't be worth the 30 years+ of pain before it.
