Some poor moves by Mick today, Rhyce on Cooney was a shocker

But the kids still did alright, the senior blokes let us down today

Didak was poor, Rocca should have kicked 6 (And unlike Cloke who always gets bagged for poor kicking, Rocca was missing set shots from 15m and failing to score ), Holland was quiet again

Burnsy tried hard but cant carry us

At the end of the day I still believe we are a much better side than the Bulldogs, but obviously the shock of leading at half time was too much for them to overcome

Not sure why you believe you have abetter side than the dogs. The last two matches between us have shown you simply don't have thr running ability to stay with us for four quarters. You really needed to take your chances earlier in the game because it was obvious late in the third quarter that your blokes were going up and down on the one spot.

I think the BEST part about this entire year has been that if we were in 2006 if somebody said "Oh you'll not have Clement or Buckley" there'd be screaming and jumping from the bandwagon.
It was common thought that without the Clem or Bucks we would totally disintegrate.
I think its been good with Bucks and Jimmy gone for the time they have because it shows that our backline is far stronger than originally thought in Clement's absence and that Buckley is not as needed as he once was, although the 2nd half today shwoed Bucks is still needed a little bit....

But the point is that the Pies side has gone beyond two men which is good. I'm stunned at how great our backline is and how quickly its come along so fast and we didn't even have Cox there today and John Anthony is still out till 2008 not to mention our top draft picks we haven't even brought in yet.

TONS to be excited about. Plus blue's got beat again :-) Whens the winning culture going to start there?

Had we had another key position forward we would have won the game.

So who out of the backline gets dropped to accomodate Maxwell? Thats the problem, he isnt apart of our best backline but Mick wont drop him so he plays him out of position

Remember that backline still has to slot back in Clement and Wakes is also a better option

HA! HA! HA! Coming from someone who is infactuated with Cameron Cloke. :D

A couple more quality mids and some quality goal kicking would still be on the cards .
Its basically a young group however and another couple of years into them to be at their best .

If, if, if......Not much use if your players are chasing butt for the entire last quarter and a half.:D

you guys are meant to be the shining light of victoria why should we be ashamed of a loss to you. i just hope your players dont crack under the pressure.

i'm happy with the development of the younger players and i dont expect the pies to win every game because as with most young players there a bit inconsistant. our pressure in the last half let us down but its something those guys and the team in general will learn from

You shouldn't be ashamed...you looked the goods for two and a half quarters yesterday. It was a great game....but for someone to suggest the difference was one extra key position forward is a bit rich. I was simply pointing out that it was the bulldogs run that won the day and an extra key position player for the pies was not the answer.

We had to take our chances when we were controlling the game. We didn't, we put ourselves under the pump and it cost us. A different result looked possible byt we did't give ourselves a chance. I'm not too concerned by the final result.

How would the Bulldogs cover 3 key position players. They cant. Thats why they have lost the games they have this year. The Bulldogs lack off height will be exploited again in the finals this year.

Collingwoods biggest problem is that Cloke and Rocca are only a 50/50 chance off kicking a goal every time they line up.

Because we had more than enough chances to ice the game early and just failed to convert, most by players who rarely miss and all easy shots

Bulldogs rely entirely on run, run, run, smart football beats them easily, we failed to capitalise on dominating the first half

If Bucks played we would have won by 10 goals

Rocca rarely misses? LOL
Smart football beats us eh? True...and you proved it I guess
If Bucks had played? Now you're starting to sound desparate.

I dont recall seeing Rocca fail to score from within 20 before but there were other reliable players miss easy shots like Swanny, Heath, Pendles among others

We didnt play smart, Mick put a midget on Cooney then triedto play 1 on 1 instead of zoning back

Bucks would probably have kicked 10 on the non existant Bulldogs defence

Mate if Buckley had played I reckon we would have heard his hamstring snap on the top level the first time he tried chasing Gilbee out of the backline. You need to stop relying on the old man......just like we can't depend on Grant being our saviour anymore.

Perspective please people. Who had us at 5 - 3 at this stage of the year.
I expected a roller coaster year and have not changed my expectations.
It will NOT be our year this year to win the flag. We will be better than the "experts" think. We will be very competitive against all commers. We will beat teams we shouldn't, we will be beaten by teams that we should beat. Our list will improve thru game time for the kids who earn it. Not a write off season , but an ends to a needs ( game time and natural development for our young list), look out you who dont see the big MAGPIE picture in the next 5 years.
I am 40 years old and genuinely excited about what is on its way!! ( its been a while )

Im with you batts. I had us finishing bottom 6 at the start of the year. I am astonished at the development of our kids. I dont remember see this many talented kids come through in 1 year. They have by far exceeded my expectations. And the bueaty is they are all different types and should be complemented by the likes of reid and brown in a couple of years. I still dont expect us to be challanges this year but in the next few years there are some exciting times

I didnt have us at 5-3, I had us 6-2 but that was expecting to lose to Essendon or Carlton, not Port and definately not expecting to lose to the Dogs

Fact is the Eagles are the only team who are at their peak and will be for a couplemore years, the rest of the teams are on the way up, on the way down or just stagnant off the pace and there is no reason to write any year off in the next 5

We're all still excited, no doubt about that, but theres also no doubt about it that we're all also frustrated in the manner of today's loss.

yeah well said. after the adelaide game i was shouting from the rooftops, i'm gutted at losing to the dogs cos i think the kids confidence will drop with a cross roads game up in brisbane this week. the future is good though.

pendles = Star
thomas
goldsack
dick
Cox
toovey
Reid
Harry O
Maxwell
Fraser
Cloke

the list goes on.

we lose Bucks, Wakes (maybe Burns) and we go to the youngest list easily.

the future is bright.

I'm Big Kev!!!!

3rd quarter we had 8 marks inside 50 to 2 and got outscored 7 goals to 2.

Ball game right there. 1 of our strengths this year has been Pebs and Trav taking contested marks. Turnovers across halfway when we had players streaming forward turned into goals also.

Don't get to concerned just yet. Given the youth in our team there will be ups and downs.

STAY POSITIVE!!!
