There is nothing benign at all about the use of the term ********* to describe Down's syndrome and you are completely mistaken about the origin of the word. Its use and origin is completely and virulently racist.

The syndrome is named after a 19th Century English physician Langdon Down who attributed the condition to a genetic reversion or devolution from the "superior" Caucasian race back to the "inferior" ********* race. Here is an excerpt from his first paper:

""The boy's aspect is such, that is difficult to realize that he is the child of Europeans; but so frequently are these characters presented, that there can be no doubt that these ethnic features are the result of degeneration."

I stand corrected in that instance, that's actually very interesting and thankyou for posting. I gather it was due to the wide epicanthic folds of the eyes, common to people of Asian ethnicity, that Down made the link. Very educational. :thumbsu:

Not wanting to get invovled but if you take notice of the top of the web page you will notice that Carlton is situated next to Collingwood, and is infact to the left of it.
