I'm happy with the mods on the Collingwood forum. It's a thankless job, much akin to working as a bank teller or parking inspector, I suspect.

Other supporters can post on here and if they are intelligent and put forth well thought-out ideas then most of us on here are happy to debate them. It's a good environment, unlike some other forums on here.

It was the mods on the main board not me by the way.

The r word (and any derogatory terms for a mentally or physically challenged person) is totally not allowed on bigfooty. Some may think worse things than that get through the filters and the mods but it's just too insensitive and many people really get offended by it more so than flat out abuse.

yeah mate i dwo volinteer work with people with an intellectual disablity and there isnt many words i find more pffensive than that im very happy with the heavy handed approach too it. Well done to all mods actually

VV69 and jabso post on some of the other Pie sites and comparing the moderating on those sites with here, it is chalk and cheese.

The moderating here is first class and unlike the other sites, doesnt pander to mates, groups, stalkers or idiots.

The "R-word" isn't so bad, to be perfectly honest. It has precisely the same meaning as "developmentally delayed" or whatever the currently-PC term is now. Society goes through these evolutionary stages with words to describe the disabled or those with ill-health. Eventually everything gains sinister connotations because of misuse by the ignorant.

"*********" to describe the presentation of Down's syndrome is one such instance. Mongolia was merely the location for the first well-documented case. Ditto for "Siamese twins" because the first well-documented case in recent times was in Siam (now Thailand). The terms themselves are entirely benign, it shits me that people make them out to be the Antichrist.

Having said all that, out of respect for the other users of the board, I will refrain from using the R-word anyway.

I think it's not just that it's the wrong word to use for people who are mentally disabled but in the way you use it. In fact I don't think people are too offended if you call someone who is mentally disabled that word (as it is an actual word that describes them) but the fact that you use that word to put down people.

If teenagers started saying "well that's just mentally disabled" or "shut up you person with down syndrome" more often they would be just as offensive. It is not that it is the wrong word (although it is a little insensitive) it is more offensive because you are using it as a put down.

hmm good question most seem to have three, but i have no qualms against two vv and jabso do a good job.

Im not certain on choosing mods savo i dont think its so much a vote but more admin taking a recommendation from vv and Jabso, but hey could do worse than you mate i could get it lol nah that wouldnt happen

Yeah vv and Jabso are great mods i was just thinking coz of the other boards, and i think it would be interesting to see you as a moderator, very interesting.......

i would rip shreds off trolls red card them then post their "back story" and lock the thread lol so it cant be changed or just carded em and edit their posts into something like "i like being the bitch".

I too would be happy with a third mod if our two incumbants think it'll help.

If so leave the decision out of the hands of us normal posters stops any chance of infighting or people being accused of choosing friends instead of the best candidate, like i said earlier though im pretty sure VV and jabso make the decison and admin agree to it, maybe one of them can actually explain it

I am not against it, i think that having an extra mod so that we have one online more often would be great, but who could do it?

We don't need a 3rd moderator at the moment. If things heat up during the season we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. This is a relatively busy board, much more so than Essendon's who have 3 mods but the 2 mods can cover just about everything so there is no problems in terms of keeping rubbish off the boards. In time we may consider another having another one but not really because we need the help but perhaps if they would make a good moderator and help the board grow. So don't go sending applications.
