Monfries - has already been discussed. Personally I don't think there is a place for him in our line-up. He is too small for midfield, and not quick enough to play out of defense or in the pocket.
Winders - love him but has had a pretty ordinary first couple of games back. I'll put this down to a lack of pre-season for the moment.
Nash - lovely kicking style but turns it over a bit. Pulled out of a contest I thought late in the 3rd quarter which is excusable for a young player but not something that he should make a habit of.
Welsh - Essendons turnover king. First game back I know but his disposal is the same as it always has been. I'm sure opposition coaches like him having the ball in our defensive half. Can never question his endeavour and maybe this is why he always escapes scrutiny. Why Pev and JJ cop it but he doesn't is beyond me.
Laycock - again already been said but worth persisting with. Blokes his size with his skill do not come around too often. Ruckmen don't generally come good until their mid 20s so its worth being patient with him.
Rama - would like him to get a bit more involved. Maybe it's because he is coming off a low fitness base.
Dyson - I'm seeing glimpses and he is getting better. Could be a valuable player for us in the future and worth staying with for the moment.
Lloyd - think he is proving that Lucas can play without him but he can't play without Lucas. Frankly his form has been off since his injury in 2006 and not only that his set shot goalkicking has been off as well. I'm basing this not only on last night but on his last 20 games or so. I am no longer confident when he has a set shot which used to be such a strength of his.
Am quite happy with the others for the moment.
