Which player do you think improved the most from when they started to how they play now?

Matthew Scarlett
Josh Hunt
Paul Chapman
Cameron Mooney
David Wojcinski

They all looked shakey at the start of thier careers, now are super players

my guess would be scarlett by a mile.

hunt came with a pretty big reputation and many thought at the time we were extremely lucky to snare a ready made well built player with such a late pick, albeit our first pick in that year. I had a few mates that played with him at the pioneers and its no surprise to them that he is now as good as he is.

in respect to chapy he showed enough early days to say that he'd be as good as he is right now imo. when given the opportunity in his first few games his attack on the ball was brilliant. for mine, you could predict that he would make a player given that he'd be in the system for a few years.

monica always has had pace to burn and you could always see him as a running-off type defender/wingman. he has become a much better player over the years but it was bound to happen. he has a much more mature body now which has helped him a lot.

big cam has improved a lot but he is no superstar and never will be. he was a fringe and premiership (obviously very lucky) player at the kangas and is now a key position player that fills in the gaps for us. sure he has came on in leaps and bounds, especially over the past couple of seasons, but not to the extent of scarlett.

scarlett - how many goals did lloydy kick on him in those first 2 games again?? who honestly would of thought that 10 (??) years later he would become the player that he is?? he didn't and still doesn't look like a player, but in jb and bt's words he has simply got the job done. he has become an awesome player. words can not describe how much he has improved from when he started out.

What about Cameron Ling?

Can you remember one of his first kicks in AFL? It was from point blank range and went out on the full? Or am i thinking of another player.

He also came as a Fullforward and is now a premier follower.

yeah that was saucehead, and it would be stating the obvious to say that he has improved a $h!t load.

Still remember that, you couldn't kick that on the full from there no matter how hard you tried, it was amazing! I reckon it was against the bombers as well!. Hopefully no repeats tonight.

Scarlo our most improved by a mile - just an absoloute super star

Up until he did his hammy this year I would've thought that DJ was a contender for most improved. He started out as a fumbling nothing player who didn't really know what he was doing, all he had was courage, now he has clean skills and good hands overhead and has become a very handy player. But Scarlett would be a clear winner, he's been arguably the best player in 2003 and 2004 after being fairly crap when he first started.

I remember that too, it took me a long time to get over.

yeah no question both sando and dj have improved from when they both started with us to where the are now (even though sando was dropped this week!!), but not near to the extent of matty. dj and sando were fringe players who couldn't get games at other clubs and have become solid players. whereas matty was probably a fringe player at best who now has superstar status.

Would'nt it then be stating the obvoius the Matthew Scarlett, a dual All Australian and Best & Fairest winner had improved a $h!tload?

Considering Cameron Ling has never been an All Australian, i thought it may be relevant the Ling has not improved as much as Scarlett.

maybe, but matty played junior footy as a defender, lingy had to change positions from a key forward.
