I just feel there is something going on in regards to our emergencies.Though you all will know before me when the SANFL sides are in the paper.

I dont think Kenny will come up for a second week.

I am heartily disappointed Welsh has another chance....unless its Watts>Welsh :)

Oh and St Kilda have won 18 from 19 at TD :o

I

No we won't PC. No SANFL games this week due to the interstate game in Victoria v the VFL.

I dont mid the changes. I guess with there being no SANFL game they can't drop too many players.

Bock plays his best across Half Back so if he has to play then play him there. He will probably get flogged by Riewoldt but who knows.

Our Forward line looks better if Mcgregor starts there. This should then push Perrie to Full Forward and allow Welsh to play as the third forward in a pocket or on a Flank.

As long as our midflielders give us first use of the ball and don't allow Riewoldt too mnay chances we should go allright

I'm worried about both PC. Just don't think we are getting the mix right.

I actually think playing Watts would give us another dimension in attack and more chance to win, as well as speeding our 'player development' along.

What do you think?

Listening to Matt Rendell last night saying he believes Welshy might be struggling with a slight OP again. If thats the case and the medical team dont realise it then they should and he should have told them. He is only holding the team back otherwise.

Insanity is doing the same thing, the same way, and expecting a different result.

Neil, its time to roll the dice old son.

Our last 360 minutes of footy have yielded 25 goals with this group.

No change = no improvement

I'm expecting another less than 10 goal game. If we win, it will be the ugliest game ever seen.

Personally I expect we wont be able to contain the Saints to less than 10 goals and will lose this game by a considerable margin.

Saints by 60+ :(

This week Geoff Roach wants Brett Burton at CHB ... to play on Reiwoldt.

Well this game obviously isn't about player development given the side selected. Fergus would be playing if it was.

I'm still hoping that the brains trust are using the lack of SANFL footy this weekend to mask the real lineup.

I'll have some of what he's on for the weekend thanks

I thought this was interesting from Geoff as well:

But the truth was that Rutten was the only Crow who even looked like taking a contested overhead mark all night, and it might well have been worth the gamble when a single goal was needed to decide the outcome.

The Truck had a brilliant game consisting of 20 possessions, numerous timely spoils, and 0 marks.

What an absurd statement.

The coaches tell the players to take risks but the match committee then does the opposite. The biggest risk is not taking a risk.

Are you serious? You don't think putting faith in Bock and Jericho up forward is a risk? Even if McGregor moves forward and Bock plays in defence it's still putting a lot of faith in guys that aren't proven. I see Craig taking risks here, for sure. Similar to when he started to give Rutten the big jobs.

Dropping someone like Bock because he struggled last week is not a risk. That would have been conservative.

Being too far away from the action I find it too hard to comment on SANFL form .. but in regards to player development I think **** answered this pretty good on another thread. Go through our team and look at all of our under 30 game players, its a fair amount.

Oh and Watts for Welsh for sure... I honestly dont know ..maybe Smith lent Welsh his photos :D

The comment was more directed at us supporters who bag a player like Bock and then bag the coach because ''ffs how are we meant to win with Bock''

What is more important in 2005? Winning or finding out about players under pressure?

I would love to think that the Crows are going to pull a couple of swifty's! Let's hope they travel with all 3 emergencies, put Watts in for Welsh, Van Berlo in for Doughty and Hentschell in for Bock.
Watts then plays FP with Perrie at FF and McGregor at CHF
Hent goes on to St. Nick at CHB
VB goes on back flank.
Brilliant!
Does anyone have NC's phone number? I'll just give him a quick call and tell him I've solved all of his problems! :p

For me "finding out about players under pressure".

If ever Craig has put his neck on the line for criticism it's this week.

If we win with the name side everyone will say nothing and move on.

If he loses there's a couple of sus selections that everyone will bag him on immediately.

We've got forwards who couldn't get a kick from a bucking bronco or the electric chair. On the other hand there's Fergus Watts, who is in good form, and still can't get a crack at it.

Bock stays in. Hentschel goes out.

St Kilda to win very comfortably IMO.
Agree with this, we've basically given the Saints a 3-4 goal headstart by selecting Bock over Watts.

My opinion is that our early success has caused neil Craig to try and manufacture wins with his most experienced and conservative squad selections, rather than doing as was promised and playing the kids. I'm at least pleased that Jericho stays in as he was OK last week, but as for Bock, I would have offered him as a sacrificial lamb to the supporters. He shows no desire, commitment or courage and has poor disposal to go with it. As mentioned previously, the only thing he has is that he looks like a footballer.
Hope I end up with egg on my face, but I'm anticipating a night free of face washing. Who knows though, we may unsettle the Saints with our rampant stupidity at the selection table. A thin hope I know!!!

This wont happen but I thought that I will post it anyway

With the changes for this week I have had a look at the side and changed a few players around and put them in different spots.

This is what I came up with

Forward Line - Welsh Perrie Burton
Skipworth Mcgregor Mcleod

This will allow Welsh to take the third best defender and let him do what he does best. It gives you a Centre half Forward that will Mark the Ball and pushes Perrie back to the goal quare with the Birdman to do some damage.

Centre Line - Reilly Shirley Mattner

Mattner has proven himself on a wing this year and I would give Rely a go on the other wing. Shirls has been doing his job each week in the guts.

Back Line - Goodwin Rutten Torney
Bassett Hart Edwards

This was the hard one. I really want to see Mcgregor up forward but it will take alot out of our defence so I have gone for Goody, Torney and Edwards to run around with Bassett. I would put Rutten on Brown and that will leave Hart to play on Bradshaw.

Ruck - Hudson Roo Thommo

Inter - Bigs, Bock, Doughty, Jericho

Well its not very often I agree with Ferret head but in todays article I do (shudder)
I am extremely disappointed with the selection panel this week, it is completely soft and hypocritical.

We needs Watts in our side this week, give him a go, why persist with a 22 year old hack like Bock, continually give him chances while we have a potential 10 year CHF playing decent SANFL footy just sittig on the side lines.

We are wasting him, gibe him a go, we all know he will go hard at every contest and add some mongrel, will Bock do that? Hell no.

Not Happy at all, Saints by plenty, Im not saying if Watts was playing it would be different, but I have just sensed a change in the last couple of weeks that the bubble has burst, I hope to hell I am wrong but its just a feeling I have.

It's probably fortunate that I've been flat chat busy since the side was announced - so I've had time to calm down..... :p

....but....WTF ?

I've become increasingly concerned over the last 2 weeks that the ghost of Gary Ayres still haunts the selection room...... ....we are waiting far too long to react to poor form IMO....ok - they've reacted to Trent's - but why not Welsh as well ?

Where is the logic in retaining Bock if Kenny is supposed to be playing fwd ?...that would mean that Bock will be playing at CHB...with only Perrie as an option when Reevolt tears him a new one. ...unless you go back to Kenny...which leaves Perrie at CHF.....which moves Bock to the bench...which is the same old shyte we've had for the last 2 weeks.....and undermines Bock's selection...!!!!!

Why not retain Trent 'cos he can play FF, CHF, CHB, drop Welsh who can only play at FF, drop Bock who is not a forwards arseh*le, and bring in Fergus, who is the key to releasing Trent, and Perrie, and Kenny if required ???!!!!

I feel like we've painted ourselves into a corner as far as flexibility in concerned......

Um we are playing St. Kilda not Brisbane ;)

Wishful thinking! I was hoping for the same, but afl.com.au says Goody & McGregor are fine, so no emergencies travelled to Melbourne :(

Maybe hes thinking that Reiwoldt will be laughing that much when howdy doody gets the ball and tries to get rid of it that he wont be able to compete.Must have had a good lunch before he wrote that one or did rucci write it under his name.

Maybe NC has decided to play Bock regardless of form, ability, team balance or anything else so that he can have one last look at him before he is discarded. Wishful thinking???? ;)
