Reporter: Have you heard anything further on Mitch Clark at all?
Bond: in regards to what?
Reporter: Have you had discussions with him?
Bond: No no....like i said before, there are a number of players both in and out of the AFL that our recruitng team track and we'll continue to do that.
Reporter: Is he someone that your potentially interested in?
Bond: umm he is certainly a player that we've monitored, definitely, but as we know there is a lot of water to go under the bridge, he's one of a number of players that umm certainly if we think that they'll have an effect on our list and fit our list management model we'd be keen to talk too. But at this stage no.
Reporter: Do you keep an eye on the WA boys that might be around the league that potentially might want to come home?
Bond: Certainly our first process is regards to our list management model is do they fit into that, the second part of that is where are they from. We need to keep adding to our list, we'll do that the right way, we've certainly done that throught the national draft previously, we have been active in other preseason picks and other trade weeks so we'll continue to look at that
Reporter: Would you consider someone like Leon Davis
Bond: There's a number of players we need to look at, we wont be making any rash decisions, trade week is 5 weeks away and the draft is a few months away so we've got plenty of time to worry about that.

I still think Clark will cost way too much an we are wasting our time going after him.
If we are going to give so much away to get someone i would prefer us throwing it away to get guys like A or DSwallow, JSelwood use the family card all his brothers are here can get mum an dad over too, they are a very close family still an hate being seperated.

Guys who may want to come here but are already proven talents an exactly what we need.

Clark so far has shown nothing to say he could be more useful than Keps was first half of this year.

If we are going to give so much away

Thats the point, i don't think Bond will pay overs.

So far under Bond's reign:

I don't count 2007/8 off season as he was at the club all of a few weeks.

2008/9 - Year of going to the draft, 14 new players
Draft: Hill, Ballantyne, Suban, Clarke, Walters, Bucovaz, Ruffles, Hall,
Rookie draft: Sibosado, DeBoer, Shepheard, Pearce, JVB, Broughton.
Trades: OUT Warnock, IN: Pick 24 + Pick 56.
Let Josh Carr go for nothing to Port

2009/10 - Year of the Bargain, Barlow a rookie selection, seriously
Trades:
Peake for pick 48
Drum for pick 49.
Got McPhee via the PSD.
Draft: Morabito, Fyfe, Houghton, Crichton, Roberton, Bollenhagen
Rookie: Barlow, Silvagni

2010/11 - First Compromised Draft
Trades:
Lost Pick 38 = Gained Mzungu + Pick 44
Lost Tarrant + Pick 44 = Gained Pick 43 + Pick 55
Lost Pick 55 = Faulks + Pick 61
Lost Pick 61 = Gained Griffin
Net gain: Mzungu, Faulks, Griffin, Pick 43
Net loss: Tarrant, Pick 38
Got Anthony via the PSD
Draft: Pitt, Michie, Mellington
Rookie Draft: Roberts, Lower

Bond has gained my trust over the past 3 seasons that'll he'll do the right thing. Each year they seem to be getting better at list management. There are lots of loop holes and bargains to be found this year. I think we'll be working closely with GWS to take advantage of the AFL rules.

I particularly like the idea of trading them a second player, getting compensation from the AFL and then using that so both teams reap the rewards.

Good post. The (early) runs on are on the board with Bond and his crew. The fact is that Freo's list management in the past few years has been closely scrutinised by other clubs because of all we've got right. With the big wallets at GWS and GC sucking most of the talent and with big wallets, it's that much harder at the moment, but I still think Bond will do OK.

From my perspective we've raised our list management and development from a massive negative to just above par. We still aren't producing the quality of new talent that sides like Geelong seem to continually unearth, but we're headed in the right direction.

Dont forget this guy,

General Manager Player Management - Brad Lloyd
Brad joined the Club in February 2008 in the role of National Recruiting Manager responsible for the Club’s National, Preseason and Rookie drafts. At the end of 2008, Brad was appointed to the senior management team and to the role of General Manager Player Management. Brad’s core responsibilities are to oversee the recruiting network and to execute the Club’s drafting process.

The problem is they will have head coach telling them that they need to recruit to enter the premiership window....

Bondy id he is as shrewd as posters are making out would know that harvey was propped up by scott and wallis. Hence he needs to get in quality ie an experienced assistant -to be the brains of the outfit and to be insurance if harvey stuffs it up. a bit like when harvey was recruited to be there when cuddles pissed up against the wall.

without a quality footy dept all the list management strategies are just piss and wind.

Yeah it's no slight on Harvey to get some quality assistants. Has anyone seen the Collingwood box on match day? Christ they've got like 15 people in there!

Delegate, Delegate!!

Great post rgauci I had not seen these figures and it does restore a lot of faith (for me, I had my doubts) in the current trading regime...

It goes to show that the current coaching team dont pay over for the players they pick up and dont give up the first round draft pick either. I hope they stick to this tactic.

Also shows that they do trade players that dont fit into our player model so some of the players that have coasted all season will hopefully be offered as trade bait to secure better picks and or players. :thumbsu:

I'm less concerned about players as getting a half decent team of assistants this year. We have lost 5 assistant coaches in 2 years now with Mitchell gone. I just hope that the club has been trying all season to lock away some decent thinkers...

I do like Bondy and what they have done but the other day he said that we wouldnt be making as many changes as what we have for the last few years.

Now with retirees/delisting and vets we have to make 6 changes already along with 3 changes to the rookie list, 9 changes all up. There are also Crowley, VB, Walters and Bollenhagen all in limbo with the possibility of being dropped with decisions also having to be made on Pearce, Sibosado and Roberts, potentially up to 16 changes.

Now I doubt all these changes will go thru but this makes it look like Bondy doesnt know WTF is going on at the club. Sorta like the head doesnt know what the body is doing. It might be a case of telling those who arent working hard enough to pull their finger out but it also shows that the club is still very unsettled going into next season!!!!

Not many if any more will be delisted, some may be traded if anyone bites, but Harves said all along some tough decisions will need to be made re: some underperforming players. They're doing nothing they didn't indicate they'd do.

This bloke either doesnt know WTF the board are up to or he is just full of s***!!!

I thought he said not too many changes this yr a new senior coach is a pretty f****n major change.

I wasnt the biggest Harvey fan but the senior coaching panel obviously had a plan to get rid of Harvey and were just stringing him along looking for a replacement on the side keeping him in the dark ready to stab him in the back.

I've heard very similar fairytale stories seem to have been fed to Griffen and Anthony in which they were assured of a spot in the best 22 so they would come over just to be left in the outer.

I'm not entirely against the Harvey decision but the more I get from this board the more I think they are a bunch of weasely, backstabbing c**** and really not a group of people that I'd like to associate myself with.

The board probably are weasely, back stabbing c****. But surely Harvs would have been the main guy deciding that Griffin and Anthony didn't warrant a spot?

And surely Harvey would have been part of the sales team assuring that they had the inside running for a spot.
