It seems that of all the Non-Essendon supporters on this site, they are just waiting for the Bombers to fall, just so they can gloat.
Well, it will probably happen at some stage. We will lose a game and everyone will be saying "Look at these Essendon idiots". You know, some sort of crap.
Even Pessimistic, who normally posts intelligent comments, keeps saying that we have everything to lose, while other teams (like his), have nothing to lose.
Well, that may be true, but I can tell you it's a GREAT situation to be in.
If you have nothing to lose, it generally means you are no good. It means you are average. Now while it would be good for the Dons to have a "Backs against the wall approach", this isn't going to happen and it's fine by me.
I am quite happy (and I'm sure every supporter of every other team would feel the same way) to have my team hailed as the best (whether it is true or not is beside the point). It means we have got a talented playing list, and a team capable of going all the way.
It's almost as if some supporters (like Pessimistic) would wish injuries on their own team, just so they can go into a match with a "nothing to lose mentality"
I am very happy to be up the top, ready for a large fall. To have a large fall, you have to be up the top in the first place, and most clubs aren't. Essendon is.
So before all you opposition supporters get stuck into Essendon, just remember, we may have everything to lose, but it is a position all of you would like to be in.
I might also add, that I certainly DO NOT believe we have sown everything up. I believe we have every chance, but I am fully aware we could not win the Grand Final again. If there is one thing about Essendon supporters, we have enough heartbreak over the last few years, despite being a very good team to appreciate evety bit of success we can acheive.
Essendon is not an arrogant club with an arrogant culture (like, say Carlton). Sure, we are confident, and enthusiastic about our teams prospects (wouldn't you be with our list), but Essendon certainly doesn't have a "born to rule" mentality like the Blue Boys.
We are no angels, but we are going to be right up there with a big chance. Can't wait for Anzac day. *quiet smile*
