It's been a tough week, not a kind of week we usually have or really want to have.
We lost Fred.
The Roys have been trying to figure out the best way to salute someone that meant so much to us, that meant a lot to this community. Not just The Sweet FA, a place that he entered into from the very start, but BigFooty as a whole where he had put so much time and effort to help make it this amazing place a lot of us call home.
All I know is that Fred would hate this. He hated the spotlight, he hated being fussed over. So I'm going to keep this relatively simple.

He captained teams, he was the best in the team, he was monster in front of goal. The Sweet FA even saw fit to elevate him to Immortal. He is a true legend.
Season 1: The Beginning
He entered the Sweet FA as an inaugural member of Team Timmy. He's been here from the start. It was a short lived team, but it gave Fred the start he needed.

Season 2 - 5: Sharpening his craft
After Team Timmy disbanded, Fred quickly moved to the Razors where he spent 4 Seasons honing his craft. The Razors made finals twice, but never capturing the premiership. It was in Season 4 the Fred would watch the team that he would become synonymous with capture their one and only flag.

Season 6 - 8: The first taste
Fred would get his first taste of life as a Roy during season 6 - 8. His first two season he played finals. driving the Roys as hard he could, even captaining the club in he debut Roy year. He took the captaincy back in season 8 led the Roys to the Wooden Spoon. Not ideal. He did however claim his first Broken Medal. He was etching himself in the Roys history books.

Season 9-10: The Mod Squad
For two season the Roys fell apart. Fred was not take this lying down. He rallied the Mods and for two season took control of his own destiny, establishing the Mod Squad. The team he captained and founded. As was becoming usual, success wasn't really around, only making the finals once in the 2 seasons. The Mods started the fade, the Roys began to rumble.

Season 11 - 23: The Roys Take II
For the next 13 season Fred would be a Roy. A Roy until the end. He won 2 more Broken Medals taking his tally to 3 (He and Fat Pizza hold the most), 8 (Probably 9) Leading Goalkicker trophies. He won wooden spoons, won games off his own boot, lost games by 100+ points. He did it all. Except the Flag.

The stats and the accolades speak for themselves. Fred however didn't care for them. He cared for this place. His tireless work behind the scenes help shape this place into what it is today.
He's someone we will never replace.
He never wasted a word. He was sharp with his tongue. He was always around for a chat. He was stingy with his likes (i believe i received 1 of the 7 he gave out), He was there for advice wanted or not. He was ever-present. He was a legend. He was a friend.
The Roys will be donning this commemorative jumper to celebrate the Immortal Fred. At the end of the season we will be retiring his famed number #1 at the end of the season. No Roy will wear this number again.
Fred said that he was going to do his darndest to hold on until he got that elusive flag. Season 23 is going to be the year the Roys do it #ForFred.
