Whats happened with the Money from the freakin TV DEAL, why does a major club like the Kangaroos have to do all this sh*t to survive?

Doesnt the AFL support any bloody clubs?

Shouldn't all this 5hit be self regulating? Problem there is that too much laissez-faire and the AFL soon becomes a subsidiary of someone like Carlton FC.
Relocate the Roos, I say!

Maybe its up to the Club (in this case the Roos) to go to the AFL and say that they are stuffed?

Obviously they prefer to stay intact and try to ride it out in Melbourne . Imagine the uproar the administration would receive from the Members.

I can`t imagine the AFL has the right to simply fold up a club and relocate it!!!

Yeah, but the AFL can say, "if you 'voluntarily' relocate, we'll give you relief, cos by Jove you're really trying to save your ar5e in a way that does footy's long term national development some good too."

Relocate the Kangas to tasmania...they need a team down there. Also if they wear their orange striped jumpers, they can call themselves the tasmanina tigers
......i know, its lame but thats the fun of it

I really don't want the Roos to fold or any other club for that matter.

I don't think its any secret that they're in financial strife and the league could bail them out if they wanted to but the League don't want to help. Help one help them all - isn't that what the League is there for?
Would the league prefer fewer clubs in Melb ? Yes.
Does the league care what clubs go the wall? No.
Would the league prefer a club to move interstate than fold ? Yes.
Has North done everything they can to survive? Yes. Even if the Sydney experiment failed at least they tried. Brisbane Canberra Tasmania could all support a team especially Brisbane with what's going on about the Lions social club.
Could the league give the Roos a $2million advance? Yes.
Does a failure by the League to step in and assist have dire repercussions for the whole competition? Yes.
If they don't help them the draft and salary cap will be out the window as I believe failure to meet financial committments is a breach of contract and the players affected would be now legally be free agents. If the League refused to allow them to move to a club of their choice it would then be a restraint of trade.

At last!!! a sensible well thought out truthful statement from Joffa. You are right on the mark with this one apart from one thing. The AFL controls the level of payments to players and if it wanted to it could reign these payements in.

It doesn't because in a roundabout way they are getting thier desire to reduce the number of clubs in Melbourne. The AFL commission are a bunch of crooks (refer to catering rights, internet rights, ground management).

Tell me Joffa, who would you have enjoyed beating more on saturday night, North or some manufactured commercial bullshit team such as Freo, Port, West Coast, Sydney, etc

The loss of any Victorian club is a loss to all the so called power clubs. Aint it gunna be grand watching the Pies play Freo, Port, etc every second week.

The roo supporters are their worst enemies.

They cannot accept the possibility of their Club folding.

If they did they may be able to get cooperation from the AFL.

There seems to be an administration hiding the true facts.

If the deal is $500 million why shouldn't the players - who provide all the sport and take all the risks - get the rewards. And Port have been a real football club for a lot longer than most so called original VFL clubs. I've got to laugh at you raising the "manufactured" tag about North, I mean, the Roos, I mean, the Canberra Colons, etc....

Now that's true. I've seen some of them say "better to go down with honour than relocate." What sort of a bird-brained freakin' attitude is that? Relocate, and you'll still see them at least 6 times a year live in Melbourne. Let 'em die "honourably" and they're gone for ever, no returns. The choice is simple.
