There were 4 shirts, a couple of T-shirts, a couple of books and some other bits and pieces. Dunno what the extra charge was all about but we would have had to kiss the whole package goodbye if we had refused to pay it. The charge is exorbitant but it is the only way you can get hold of any Pompey merchandise in this country.

Example 3: Import of goods (other than tobacco products or alcoholic beverages) valued above $1000

AUD$ Customs value (Cval) 2000.00 Customs duty (Duty) @ 5% of Cval 100.00 (Payable) International transport and insurance or postage (T&I) 150.00 Value of the Taxable Importation (VoTI) (Cval+Duty+T&I) 2250.00 Goods and Services Tax (GST) @ 10 per cent of the VoTI 225.00 (Payable) Total payable Duty + GST 325.00

i guessing they charged you gst on the voti .still have your receipts?I'd be chassing that up with your local ombudsman if it wasn't $1000 worth ,customs might have pulled a fast one

Yeah Pompey's shipping charge is something like 23 quid flat fee no matter how much stuff you order. My brother and I decided it would be worth our while combining our orders and adding a few other items too. The problem being they take VAT (about 15% from memory) off of the price but Australian customs got hold of our parcel and charged us something like $150 to pick it up. Importing tax (combined with GST I think) or something 'cos we had 4 or 5 shirts in the package. They'll sting you any way you can unfortunately.

BTW Big Cox where did you find the Pompey shirt, as far as I am aware they are unavailable in Australia. At least they were last time I checked.
At a soccer shop in W.A. Same shop that had all the Brazillian shirts. Dont think that blokes gonna be in business much longer. Anyway I finally found a shirt after about a 6 month search. One of the people at Amart Allsports was kind enough to order one in for me. Boo yea

It was a couple of years ago the receipts are long gone. I remember the word importing used in the conversation but i think they charged us gst too. Definately wasn't a $1000 worth but there ya go just chalk it up to life experience and aviod doing it again I guess. We now get the (smaller) parcels sent to family in Pompey and they send them on for a significantly cheaper postage charge.

Recently bought a couple of NUFC scarves from the official site - the postage (£20 flat R.O.W.) was more than the merch (£14 or so).

Should've waited for the new shirt to come out to get more bang for my buck, but ah well ya get that - it's embarrassingly intoxicating to think my cash will be squandered on some dodgy Ecuadorian/Filipino/Moldavian come midnight, July 1.

This is what I do, just call family & friends in Brum to go down to St. Andrews, buy the gear and send it to me for significantly less than the 20 quid rip off charge for international postage.
