They need to have some sort of motivation whether it be rewards or punishment to the hip pocket.
Any suggestions
Its not the fault of the players that they are getting a game, its the fault of the club that allowed them to make it into the list.
It needs a policy change at the club to screen out the crap (like most professional organisations).
This is my suggestion.
1) You must be able to kick to a player >=40m away at full pace on the chest 80-100% of the time or you will not be signed.
2) You must be able to do a 20m sprint in the allotted time for your given size/position or you will not be signed.
3) You must be able to hand ball to a persons chest 90-100% of the time. Not achieving the pass mark means you will not be drafted.
4) You must have a certain minimum average possession, hardball count, %DE over your junior career if you want to be drafted and play in the midfield.
5) If you are in a position to sheppard or tap the ball to advantage and fail to do so results in a reprimand and a chew out by teams mates and staff.
There are not very onerous or outrageous set of criteria for your average AFL player, after all it is a professional sport played by professionals at the top of their chosen career path.
