Yeah there might be logistical difficulties of postponing the test but still believe the ECB would have taken up the offer. It's why I'm not sure about the credibility of the report.

What I predict is going to happen:

• Test will be classified by ICC as cancelled not forfeited.
• India therefore wins the series 2-1.
• BCCI will quietly transfer the 30 million pounds to ECB that they lost as a result of this decision (peanuts compared to what they make on the IPL).
• The 5th test won't be played next summer.
