We have been a bit quiet.

The 5th biggest tournament is about to start. Several big names are back on the WTA. Azarenka plays Watson first up while Serena gets Zarina Diyas in a nice soft section.

The WTA Draw is here.

Other notable first rounds are
Maria Sharapova vs. Naomi Osaka (winner plays Agnieszka Radwanska, who then plays Muguruza /Bouchard/Q),
Serena Williams vs. Zarina Diyas (winner plays Kiki Bertens),
Victoria Azarenka vs. Heather Watson (winner plays Sloane Stephens),
Timea Bacsinszky vs. Wang Qiang (winner plays Elise Mertens),
Samantha Stosur vs. Lauren Davis (winner plays Kristina Mladenovic),
Belinda Bencic vs. Timea Babos (winner plays Jelena Ostapenko),
Donna Vekic vs. Maria Sakkari (winner plays Ashleigh Barty).

Woz could return to the number 1 ranking if she makes the final.

Men's side, all I know is no Nadal, No Stan and the draw isn't out yet. I let someone else post the draw and all that.

Kokkinakis lost first round of qualifying to Baghdatis.
Rodionova lost first round of qualifying.
Alja lost final round of qualifying.

Is Dellacqua injured? See that Barty is teaming up with Coco. Against each other in the third round if they both win second round matches.
Team of Azarenka & Sabalenka. Earplugs definitely needed for that one.

It's being quiet around these parts recently.

Boobchard is struggling in her 1st match against a qualifier. 2 breaks each so far and games on serve in 1st set. But really she should be smashing this opponent

Its nearly been a year since Maria has been back from her drug ban. still not ranked inside the top 40.

Barty lost her doubles in the 3rd set MTB. Williams and Azarenka are about to start the night session.

.Sofya Zhuk(18 year old Russian(yes another one) former junior champ of Wimbo) beating Cornet is probably the biggest headline of the day in the girl's section.

The 1st round lacks star power. 2nd round should be good.

Djokovic on the brink here he's playing some pretty average tennis. Still doesn't look like he's over his injuries

Beaten first up by a journeyman. He is clearly not himself and he will improve but what is happening with him and others is what almost always happens. The wear and tear the body endures to remain competitive year after year tells and at 30/31 a slump in results and form happens and month by month the player recedes down the rankings. The vast majority of top class tennis careers have been effectively over come 32/33.we have seen it time and time again. The current Federer position is a glaring statistical outlier and unlikely to be matched for decades.
