Barty is 1 win away from the top 10*

Feels good to have time to actually watch some tennis. Been too long. Watching Putinseva and Pliskova in the 3rd. Pliskovas movement is really bad and she is really not hitting her shots well at all. Still hopes she wins #hereforthehandshake

*it is not that simple

Ha, that is why I was watching. There goes the Putintseva racquet for no real reason, as I don't think she played a bad game. Pliskova actually hit with some convention and angle and over the net. Pliskova serving for it at 6-5. Should be interesting.

Made it harder than what it should have been but in the end, Pliskova wins and Putintseva smashes her racquet at the end of Matchpoint.

Barty plays in a couple hours against Kvitova, a win will secure the #9 ranking.

Kvitova (and Halep) are fighting to finish the week ranked #1.

Kyrgios lost to 3 to Coric. Sounds like Nick was playing well until he had a lazy service game and cracked it from there.

Thompson lost 5 and 5 to Anderson. Only saw a little bit but scrappy tennis as always and really should of got to tiebreaks to have a shot

Shame Nick lost, the draw really opened up and he would have been a reasonable chance to make the final. Agut defeats Djokovic twice in the space of 3 months, that's huge. This Felix kid will be top 15 by the end of the year, I'm going to make a bold call.

That's interesting, doesn't she normally prefer hot/trying conditions? Maybe she was unwell.

Good to see Barty get the win though :thumbsu:
Kvitova doesn't like it at all. She struggled with her asthma in the last set. Very similar to their match in Sydney in that regards.

Who does everything will make the men's final?

Isner/Auger-Aliassime v Federer/Anderson/Shapovalov/Tiafoe

These established young guys like Medvedev should really be pushing Fed more than a regulation 6-4 6-2 scoreline. You have to push him into a drawn out match these days to have a chance but if you just allow him to dictate like Medvedev did your no chance. Federer at this point of his career is in ultra aggressive mode. The shorter the matches the better. Keep him on court as long as possible.
