Cameron 22 and 11 surely rates.

Problem is the divide between the bottom 6 and the rest of the comp is just staggering.

Box Hill would beat any of them.

Box Hill couldn't even beat Richmond's VFL side...

Also, just when you thought Daicos had arguably the best game of the season, NWM goes and does that. Gotta go with NAS as performance of the year based on getting the win, and 2 goals in 10 seconds to steal it. Jezza beat up a rabble missing their best defender.

Melbourne arent a rabble?

They literally cant even count to 4.

It was a weekend of great performances individually. Daicos Cameron NWM Rowell all outstanding.
+ Callaghan. You could even throw Sam Darcy in there too.

An insane number of obscene individual performances in the one round.

Yes forgot them, I enjoyed the weekend because of this! I am a bit selfish like that love a dominant performance even though the games were no contests on the majority.

That's by far the best individual performance of the year.

Not just for 54 disposals, but the goals, the score involvements, the clearances.

This is now Sheezel's to lose.

I didn't watch but surely Sheezel gets top 5 for the year. 54 and 2 goals 2. 15 score involvements.

LOLOL.

The best performances have to come in big games against quality opposition.

Not against witches hats.

For people assessing based on AFL Tables:
1. Harry Sheezel
2. Bailey Dale

LOLOL.

Yeah, I see what you are saying and that is why it may not be number 1, but everyone plays this team and no one has gone close to that effort. A player can still be outstanding in a bottom side.

All good points but the opposition counts and there wasn't much of that today. Daicos had similar metres gained and contested possessions last night with 29 possessions.

Amazing game by Sheezel but NWM performance is still in front for impact.

Nope

If it was "just" a 40+ possession game this would be valid.

But instead;
  • it's the first time anyone has had 50 in six years
  • It's only the 11th time in AFL history a player has got 50+
  • It's the equal most disposals anyone has ever had
People trying to downplay this are kidding themselves. It's historically great.

I can see both sides of it. It’s hard to draw parallels.

You need to weigh up a few factors.
If you look at other sports, say a game like cricket which as a cricket tragic is my go-to for a comparison, you will often see two performances elevated or reduced depending on the opposition, and rightly so, but cricket is a bit more nuanced in that regard. If a player makes a triple century against a poor team for example like Wiaan Mulder did recently against Zimbabwe, he might have made 600 had the need to win the game not won out. He also got dismissed off a no ball and had some lives from memory. And he’s not restricted in any capacity by his teammates or their limitations. If he’s having a good day against a bad side, there’s nothing that can impact it. It’s a player taking advantage of an inferior opponent and that’s that.

He’s playing in an ordinary side himself and it’s not just a case of standing there having a good day. Hes got to be in all the right spots, read the play, know where his teammates are going to look, his his targets, outthink his opponents, finish his own work. The opposition quality in many scenarios won’t impact that. Of course they will have some bearing on it but not completely, and if it was all down to that, why isn’t the leading ball winner from every team doing it when they play Richmond or the eagles or north themselves.

Garry Lyon assesses the best individual performances of the round well when he does his GVP votes each Monday night on AFL360.

Sheezel got the 1 vote tonight - the third best performance of the round.

Zac Bailey got the two votes for his performance in a season defining game.

Gunston got the 3 votes - not entirely sure about that given the opposition, but I sense it was more about the cumulation of reaching 60 goals for the year.

I'd have Sheezel 3 Keane 2 Gunston 1

On my stat system

I had Heeney on 116 points

Rowell, Anderson, Luke Jackson, Daicos Bont are the only players to score over 100 points.

But Heeney for me

Here are the top 30 scores for players on my system this season so far. I'm having a hard time working out how to do pivot tables beyond this. I wanted team and round included but it's giving me every team and every round.

No double ups, just each players best score
