So despite all that additional experience, we still manage to play like the opposition had a tonne more experience.

What BS cliches is Coach Fagan rolling out this week?

We need to sack all our experience to get back to being the younger side. Makes it easier to accept the losses:)
Its time to stop talking about development and start believing we are a football club that is in the business of wining games of football.

Fagan is a good coach. He is trying to develop the kids the right way. The thing letting him down at the moment are the mistakes from the senior guys.

Most of them are not performing at the standard required, but he can't drop them because there is no one else playing well enough to replace them.

We have put in a couple of blokes in the last few weeks that add to age experience but not in games experience.
Eagles (28) now with 2 games.
OMac (23) now with three games.
Hodgey (33) 313 games?? At a guess, but playing like a 19 yr old who is always under pressure and making as many mistakes as the younger boys. After the Hawks game he needs a couple of weeks off, the game is kinda going past him.

This actually doesn't look as bad as it really might. Certainly a lot better than last time. The experience gap has narrowed significantly (from both directions). We've got a much better distribution of contributors. Doesn't necessarily mean that it always works out though :p

And before anyone asks, yes, that is Titchell with literally all the contested possessions. That's also Dad Andrews with all the 1%ers too.

Damn - I was hoping the games and age difference would be closer. Oh well I guess another way to look at it is that they are a bunch of banged up over the hill has beens!
(Sitting 5-3).

More than 50 games is 14 for both of us. 0 to 24 we only have one more. Can't see that inexperience can be an excuse for this one. And our inexperienced players are not in the first games. Eagles will play his third game, Oscar his fourth, Bailey 6th, Rayner 9th, Witho 18th and Berry 25th. An all round team effort can get us a win in this one. Go Lions!

The bottom nine are comparable but the top 13 have, on average, about 50 games more for each of them. That's a deceptively huge gap. If we've got a 50 gamer, they've got a 100 gamer. If we've got a 100 gamer, they've got a 150 gamer.

We are taller and heavier. And other charts show we are close. I'm pleasantly surprised. I think tomorrow will go better than some think.

Our 1% acts are great and show the heart and determination of our players. When we can’t match the skills we can at least neutralise some of their control through acts of desperation. Our pathway to winning in the short term.

This.

They have been used to pushing us around and bullying us forever.

They may be older and wiser but we are younger, faster and bigger, We need to turn this into another fast playing, high scoring shootout, even if it means conceding the inevitable 5 or 6 goals to the Budweiser.

I think if we can keep it up-tempo and minimise our errors , we can get them on the outside and create scoring opportunities going inside 50.

In the JLT game at Burpengary we genuinely troubled them in the first quarter but squandered our oppotunities and found ourselves down at quarter time due to the usual Buddy factor and our inability to exert any scoreboards pressure at all,

Then after quarter time we went into our shells which suited them and their "Grind them down" style of play, ending in the standard Swans 90-something to 40-something win on the bit.

We have got to keep it fast, loose and wide against these guys.

Otherwise it's just gonna be another one of those inevitable Swans wins where they dictate the style of play and you get sucked into trying to counter it. Ruck, maul, boundary throw in, tackle hard, territorial dominance, snap goals from the back of the pack. The Gabba is actually a pretty big and wide ground so let's spin it out wide and not let them play the "Swans" way.

GO LIONS!!!

Woot, now I wrote a thing to scrape the teams page. Now I can even just automatically scrape even the teamsheets in instead of copying them in like a chump. Also it just automatically generates these graphs for every match each round. I should really figure out something to do with the others.
