Hey Jivlain. I am very interested to see what your numbers say for round 1 next year. Any chance of you doing your best Lions 22 round 1 numbers v west coast best 22 now so we can see what the offseason changes and a year older has done to our profile?

I will have a think about it. Have to actually select a best 22 as well

We have the technology (even the ability to selectively up-age teams). We can build a premiership-winning list.

Appreciate your work mate. I know it's a bit of a stretch but would you be able to just post the age and games if Hodge wasn't in the team. Curious to see the drop off it makes. But if it's a pain don't sweat it

Awesome! Thanks very much. I was hoping we would be near that magic 100 game average and over the 25 year average. Still at a disadvantage to WC but they are the premiers!
The reality is 2020 really will be the finals push year even after we deduct the hodge factor from our stats.

replace Hodge with Cox (or any other low experience replacement) and you drop the average games per player by about 14 (324 gamer down to 20 gamer = 300/22) and you drop the average age by about 0.6 (435-21yo = 14 years / 22 players)

so difference becomes 40 games and 1.5 years.

the analysis definitely makes us look ready to make another decent jump this year though.

Based on the general consensus, there are 25 players that are possible selections for round 1, with an average games played of 92.16 and an average age of 25.2. Depending on selections (especially Lester/Bastinac/Taylor), it's quite possible we hit 98 and 25 for round 1.

The stats are remarkably close, with the difference being that the Eagles have a few more real babies (under 25 games), whereas the Lions have more youngsters (25-49 games). None of these really tell us much about what will happen.

The 3 mature age ins certainly help in this regard.
Now to on field performance!

Thanks. Was looking forward to this.

I hate to point out that the weight difference should be +1kg not .9kg

Gut feel is that we are in with a chance, stats back that up. Going to be very interesting game. Hopefully we turn up from the first bounce and can maybe get the jump on them.

Interesting comparison with rd 23 last year - massive equalisation of average games played (mainly due to the eagles outs of course), very similar ages now too.
